Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

there has probably been a few threads about this track but it deserves a few more, it is simply one of the best songs ever written. Shara Nelson delivers a vocalperformance that is heartstopping, mixed with a great stringarrangement it's just magic. great video aswell

not that it has a single patch on the original but worth checking out is nellee hooper remix which adds a different arrangement, a groovy beat and some extra backupvocal, presumably from some of the female members of hooper's soul II soul collective.

a top tune which does deserve some respect

A timeless classic and amazing tune.
The strings alone are incredible. The voice, the drum loop in the background (gold star for anyone who can name the sample).
Video was shot in one take too...

ps... possibly one of the most valuable and collectable acetates I own...

Sorry about the photo..flash got a bit carried away. Its a minor shame its a 7" acetate instead of a 12", but I am certainly not complaining..

Agreed, that track is ace!

Agreed, an absolute gem.

I don't think there's any need to make a thread about this track. Anyone who doesn't know it's a classic obviously has their head buried too deeply into the sand to use a computer in the first place.

one of the best tunes ever. although on a personal level 'protection' cuts that little bit deeper with me

Hands down one of the best tracks ever. Simple as

^^

In a league of it's own. And the 'one-take' video suits it perfectly.

It's okay, but I'd put many other Massive Attack tracks above it.

I like this on a par with many others.

Not before I shove an enormous slab of Roquefort in your grill.

Btw, brilliant sig.

I will probably get assraped by saying this but I could do it without the vocals :S

Agreed. Great track, but a Massive Attack production it is only average to me. Nothing touches 'Protection' or 'Teardrop' in my opinion.

would love to hear a deadmau5 remix of this

Even on his day, that untalented gimp couldn't improve upon even the absolute worst of Massive Attack's productions. The sooner people jump off the deadmau5 bandwagon the better because it's really starting to get annoying.

Posted by LoveHate on Dec-09-2007 08:18:

oakenfolds remix isnt bad either.

Starting to get annoying?

Wish it was only that...

Back on topic, some of my favorite MA productions are I Against I, Teardrop and Angel.

I agree

I think "Sly" may be my favorite Massive Attack production. So many other good ones, too.
