Cool Downloading mixes, save target as..

I know sometimes when trying to download mixes (or anything else for that matter) you sometimes run into trouble where the browser loads the file (in QuickTime for instance) rather than saving it to disk.

I just created a simple site that you can type or paste any URL into and it simply displays a clickable link to the file below. From there it's simple to just right click and save the file to your drive.

http://www.URLSaveAs.com

Thought this might be of good use for the community...

this actually isn't a terrible idea. I doubt how much it will really be used, but it's still a decent idea.

Or... you could take a minute to configure your browser.

They don't allow downloads from your I.P. adress until you visit the site. So I highly doubt it unless it has some h4xing skills.

I think we're talking about stuff that allows direct links here.

Yeah, I'd imagine there are no tricks to get around the megaupload.com and other sites' download restrictions.

As for displaying the recent 'pastes' that have been put in, that is a good idea... perhaps I can add that feature... do any of you think that would be obtrusive though or somehow intruding on your privacy?

Have it defaulted as off but an option to display your pastes (if you say yes its saved to cookies)

+1, guess no one has heard or yet explored the MIME TYPES setting in their favorite browser, you could individually define browser's action when a user click on a file of a particular type.

Posted by Domesticated on Dec-11-2007 10:12:

Or you could just right click and "save as"?

If that's the case and the file just begins to play in your browser, you can usually just go "File > Save-As."

Posted by CleverName on Dec-13-2007 02:02:

...or you can email yourself a link to the file...
