Peace Division - Voodoo (it's in the wall)

oh fuck dude, Matt Dear dropped this on spider room, I had it stuck in my head for weeks...fuckin CHOON

Sounds SO sick on a system!

Can't believe I missed its release...thanks for reminding me what the hell it is...

I loved the beggining, but then I didn't really think Super Body fit well where it was. Rest was good, some of the mashing is sick, but sometimes I felt like it got a little too crowded. Will listen again on substances and report back.

Hard to tell, asbrey did an excellent job of bringing them in and out smoothly.

And the way the vocals from 1 & 2 go together is fucking brilliant...

going to upload to divshare later, unless anyone can sort me a mirror?

as for average track length I'm not sure, I'd say 6/7 minutes a pop

listened back to this a few times now, and I've learnt just because I can play 5 tracks at once, doesn't mean I should, and there's a few points where it gets a little crowded, but not for massive periods of time

Thumbs up

Spent the last hour or so listening to this one while typing up some finals notes, and it's probably the set of yours I think is the most ambitious in what it tries to do.

I think it would probably work better in club than it did for me at home, but I still really enjoyed it, just as Clovis mentioned - it gets a bit cluttered on occasion when you're very much "in the mix."

Still, as you mention - it's never for altogether too long, and in a lot of cases I'd much, much rather hear a DJ take a chance than mix "safe."

I think as long as you walk away with the idea that "Just because I can do something, doesn't mean I should" - you're golden.

One of the highest talents I think a DJ can have is being able to find the proper balance between the neat technical stuff and playing a cohesive set with a real sense of flow. You're very, very close to finding that balance.

I already told what i thought Mark, in the club just pare down the mashups a tad as to not tire out your dancers. Add a tad more breaks for respite, and you will be gold. Best6 of luck to your new years gig. This is deffo the kind of set that has me wanting to learn ableton so i can do more than with records and cd. Keep em coming.
get this people...its interesting.

downloading NAO !

Posted by agentdansmith on Dec-18-2007 16:58:

Downloading now.

So are you an Ableton Dj then? Did you do these mixes live in Sessions view or do you pre-arrange them in the Arrangement view?

Posted by Az on Dec-18-2007 17:23:

yeah with ableton and in the sessions view

Been canning Voodoo (It's in the Wall) like a mother fucker for the past week or two. Although I'm terrible at getting around to reviewing other peoples mixes, your past sets have done nothing but impress me (and have been my favorites to come from TA this year) so I'm very excited to listen to this. I'll try and get a review, but I can't make any promises.

Eventhough I don't always reply on your mixes this is a definite download. So in case I haven't wrote it down earlier... your mixes are the dogs bollocks
