Can someone recommend a DC?

So I am suppose to let me Mom know what camera I want for Xmas...I haven't the slightest Idea what good cameras are out there right now.


Can someone recommend a good--> Point n Shoot camera under $500.00

any Canon SD series in that range. Or the Canon G series.

its pretty cheap comparatively speaking and you get a lot of pixels for the buck.

so is it worth the extra $100 to get one with IS? i haven't used a camera with IS before so i don't know what difference it makes... but i'm looking to upgrade my old bulky A-series Canon with one of their newer/smaller models.

right now i'm leaning towards the SD1000 (primarily because of the size + price), but i'm also looking at the SD800 and SD850.

Chelsea and I just picked up the SD1000 I believe a few months back and love it. The pictures seem to turn out really good and you cant beat the size. I love being able to just put in my pocket.
