hahaha

shit.. posted this in the wrong thread...*oops*

hahaha

story is:

this guy from NY wanted to book me a couple of years ago for like 1k.. and they said "just come over and say youre visiting friends" so i said no way, im not doin that without ther proper / papers visas.... so i told him i wasnt interested in playing in america. because as your all sure that if i went n did that, got caught, ytou can forget any chance of me ever being able to get ab actual visa / being allowed back into the US...

so... now my agents for north america got me a 3 year O1 visa (which was not easy to get) and now this guys just pissed off that i got US gigs and that i didnt play for him beofre. theresfore i guess it was cool of him to bring that up in a forum like that.

oh well. it's not very professional on his part, at all... so much in fact that even now that i can enter / perform in the US...im not really interested in working with him... and that just made him upset enough to post random bullshit on the forums i guess.

and as it turns out, he has alot of lil buddies and whatnot on his side... so yeah, thats recipe for a good lame thread right there.

... but i dont think it all amounts to me "being a dick" ... if anything, i did the right thing by shutting down that gig 2 years ago.. wotherwise i'd probably not have the opportunnity to play all these new ones. I like to run everything legit, and i dont like to deal with people who dont. its not that hard to understand really... but the rest of the "im an asshole" order should really give it a rest... 70 out of 73 people who make these claims, i've never even met in the first place. :\

ah the drama! ahahah

Posted by chinamon on Dec-12-2007 19:10:

that guy is an idiot. he was being cheap and lazy for denying your request for a visa and hes blaming other people for it.

Posted by barbina on Dec-12-2007 19:19:

so.. you're not an asshole?
oh.
that was the only reason i really liked you
now i need a replacement.
damn.

damn too late... I spent 20 min reading that thread, and a few minutes later this thread was created.

For some of you who haven't been around... some will tell you my history with promoters.

Personally, they are great guys and gals, I adore all of them, and great to see them and share a drink any time!

But professionally, it's CUT-THROAT business, where there is always one-upmanship, get people to events at all costs, fighting for attendees, email contact stealing for spamming, and a sh1tload of badmouthing other promoters to ruin reputations to up their business. Not all of course, but many.

I wouldn't call that being an asshole. I would call that being a professional. Clearly this guy isn't and if he and his little bitch friends want to be...well, little bitches, then you're better off not working with him and selling out the club next door legally.

$1000 doesn't seem like it would have covered the fine/legal fees if you had been caught, and there's no way you would have been issued an O1 if you had ever been busted.

Good for you, I say.

All this time I thought you were a complete asshole who just happened to make amazing tracks and remixes... until you cleared your name in this thread

On a different note, CONGRATS on being booked for Godskitchen in January!! Not sure if you've ever been there, but Air is an amazing venue and you'll rock it alongside Eric Prydz!!

Posted by yankeeBaby on Dec-12-2007 22:32:

lol are you smokin crack, the gig was only six months ago!!

I know a couple torontonians that swear you are a decent guy and another few that pretty much think the same thing as the New york promoter. soooooo......... in any case I dont know you from a hole in the wall and as I wrote in the NY thread: I will make my opinion when/if I ever meet you. I never hold judgement until then.

i walk really slow in front of people who are in a hurry, espcially on escillators and those walk thingies in airports.

but outside of that, i dont see the use. coz im usually locked up in here all by myself making mnusic... which seems far more important to me.

This thread is just about as useless as a Ni-Cd review thread, thanks for assuming anyone here gives a shit. Nice little throw in about the price you were getting paid too. Very classy

I don't understand the need to defend yourself to some twats online, or even to further perpetuate all the drama by making another thread about it.

Just be the classier person and let it die. Only a moron defends themselves to people whose opinions mean nothing to them. Especially since people are going to think what they want regardless.

I'm hahaha'ing at this thread too... Another case of "how many things is wrong with this picture?":

a) booking was discussed in April 2007, not 2 years ago
b) at least half of the DJs that play in the United States don't have that Visa... the other half that do are guys like Tiesto and PVD, and all the bigger names; being without the work permit is very easily avoided and no one has ever gone to jail, or had to pay for getting caught; in fact, to my knowledge and my promoter friends' knowledge, we've only heard of two instances where an artist without one was "caught"... he was simply sent on a plane home and fairly enough, kept the fee he was paid
c) in the NY thread, you use the fact that you "were in a bad place in your life at the time" as an excuse; you could have taken our fee, come to New York and play to a crowd that never heard of you (once again, I repeat, April 2007, he wasn't "famous" yet), and if you got caught at the airport, you could have gone right back home and kept our fee to better your life if that was the problem.
d) we stopped our commenting yesterday afternoon, not because we changed our mind, but because it's unnecessary and spiraled a bit further than we thought (with other people making dumb claims and assumptions about you that were ASS-umptions in the first place); there was no need to bring it up again; now you have your friends mouthing off people in the New York forum, and calling very well established promoters "unprofessional", with immature language and they're making a bad name for you by doing that... why did you need to open up the wounds? now more people are going to read THAT thread, and THIS one, and that means more people may just be on my side (or not, but you seem to enjoy the drama, otherwise this wouldn't be posted).
