Unhappy WARNING: EXTREMELY disturbing video re: drunk driving victims

Not for the faint of heart, but when I received a link to this, I had to share this with the people I care about on TA, to try and prevent you from drinking and driving or letting friends/family do the same.

This was extremely hard for me to watch; I've been through a personal incident re: a traffic fatality so this was even more painful; very shocking.

my high school showed that video to everyone the night before prom. i remember everyone cried then the next day they just drove drunk anyway. my friends and i had a limo for that reason.

its intense, but people need to be smarter. i hate drunk driving. blah.

It's not that disturbing. It did get me interested though, in how one Civic mowed down 2 girls while receiving damage to its rear bumper.

Posted by technoaddict on Dec-13-2007 05:55:

thats not really disturbing at all you pussy

What would you have done? Offered her a glass of water? See if she needed an aspirin? The best thing to do would be to leave her as she was till the paramedics arrived - by moving her you may be making her injuries worse.

1. Safety check for yourself, check the environment, protect yourself.
2. Call 911
3. ABC's (Airway, Breathing, Circulation)

fuck how can so many people stand around.

you don't have to move the person to check vital signs

I would have gone over checked her pulse and if she was still alive I would have comforted her until the paramedics arrived.

If she wasn't breathing I would have started CPR...

There are people that know first aid you know and you don't have to be a dick with your reply to me...

+1

There is always bound to be 1 person in a crowd that has some knowledge of first aid or CPR...

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Dec-13-2007 06:55:

On the comforting thing, I am sure your comforting words would have prevented her from dying if she was going to anyway.

And there wasn't really a crowd around - from what I can see, about 5 people. Quite possible they all didn't know CPR well enough to attempt it.

And if you watch the vid, (which is only a 1.5 minutes long), people did come up to both girls and checked for vital signs - "THEY'RE BOTH ALIVE", so within a minute or so people tried to help both girls out. They established that they were both alive, and that's pretty much all they could do until paramedics arrived. I wouldn't call that standing around doing nothing.

Sorry for being a dick.

I feel very bad for the families and victims..... but

anyone got an ID for the tune in the back?

Posted by exstasie on Dec-13-2007 15:21:

How do we know for sure this was a result of drinking and driving?

The title of the video stated that, but there may have been other factors. I'm totally against drinking and driving...but just stating that it may have been other factors as well.

jesus
so one girl is pretty much right under the car, what are they zooming on all the time? it's off in the distance, a piece of the 2nd girl?

I learned about it psychology, forgot what the term is called but if there's a big group of people there's a less likely chance that someone will help because of the "someone else will help them" mentality. For example if there was a person dying on the street and there was 100 people around you most likely won't help, but if it was just you and you saw that person dying you would help.

Posted by lexxwolfen on Dec-13-2007 17:46:

That wasn't disturbing at all...

Like other people said, who knows what actually happened and if it was indeed caused by drunk driving. And how the hell is the civics bumper practically sitting ontop of the girl? Even if it did back up quickly theres no way a human body could rip off the bumper like that... unless he was reversing at like 160kmh+.

But yeah, it's just a video of 2 girls who were hit by something(most likely the car/a car). No proof that there was drunk driving/impaired driving involved.

I'm against drunk driving to an extent... I won't explain why I'm somewhat for it though.

The only reason you told this story is so you can say you had a limo for your prom, isn't it?

There is no excuse for drinking and driving. People will always drink and drive, in some cases I don't see it as a bad thing. When someone drinks and drives and gets themself killed, thats one less idiot on the road. Which isn't a bad thing.

I'm "for" it when it kills the turd that decided to drive drunk.

Don't go jumping to conclusions thinking that I meant there are excuses to drunk driving. There aren't.

So I guess I'm more for certain end results rather than JUST the drunk driving.

Wow because you have no idea what I actually meant and had nothing intelligent to say?
