New England Football manager

Looks like its going to be Mr Capello!

BBC Sport

personally, i would have preferred Mourinho, but am glad that we are getting someone who is not afraid to make changes! and you can't argue with his impressive record!

Cappello is one of my heros for what he done with ac milan in the early 90's so I'm disappointed he looks set to take on the england role.

I don't think he will win anything with england because they don't have a good enough team, but I think he will do better than both mclaren and eriksson before him..

who the hell wrote that? It's just speculation...I could pull that out of my ass just as well anyone could.

At least they're trying something different...although the entire FA needs to be purged and people who actually KNOW THE GAME should take over.

lol...nearly all their players are world class. they have a good team they just lack structure.

Your definition of world class must be a million times removed from mine then.

Gerrard, rooney, terry and lampard (although only for chelsea it would seem) are the only players who are anything near world class that play in the england set up.

The media would have you believe the rest of the squad is, but they just aren't, no matter how much their club side pays them weekly or how much their transfer fee was, a lot of the england players aren't that good when compared to other nations.

Capello is going to be the meanest and most arrogant bastard that the English squad have ever met!! Besides that he will impose his way of things by intruducing a strong discipline to the defence which will result in the team being less attacking much to his style. I know most people are going to say 'oh he's gonna make them boring', but seriously if you care about winning who gives a shit what style they play. The English squad has needed a kick up the bum and finally the right man has come along to do exactly that

oh man he has some tough competition for that spot :P

Capello is a winner and frankly, nobody else comes close to quality Capello is.

If it's stupid, but it works, then it's not stupid.

It's been interesting to see how well the media are taking to the appointment, while a lot of professionals are coming out in voicing their criticism. His record speaks for itself, although I would've preferred Mourinho too based on his English experience. Either way, he has a year to get him and his Italian coaching staff settled before the competetive games begin, so it'll depend on how hard he works during that time too to get himself set up.

I wonder who the captain will be. I say Gerrard.

Gerrard isn't a leader from what I can gather. Given Capello's defensive leanings, I'd say Terry....maybe Hargreaves in the future.

Agreed I predict a huge future for Hargreaves in his setup. But anyway why the fuck do they need to appoint him so quickly? England always do this:

lose
bin manager
huge payoff to ex-manager
get new manager ASAP!!!!

in the space of a month... not exactly sensible if you ask me.

if they know who they want why wait?
if they had waited some other club might have offered capello a job
