How was your 2007 in EDM?
*If there's already a thread for this, let me know, this will be deleted immediately - but yes, I was too lazy to look
So, how was it? What were your favorite tracks of the year (not necessarily released this year, but what did you play/listen to/like)? Did you get tuned into a new sound? Who was your favorite jock? What was your biggest disappointment?
Feel free to answer any and all - or to just let me know how utterly wretched and unnecessary this thread is.

And for my part, here's at least a decent list of the tracks I was into this year:
16 Bit Lolitas - Neptune (Original Mix)
Lucio Aquilina - Magic M (Massi Reconstruction)
Romboy and Bodzin - Pandora (Original Mix)
Dusty Kid - Milk (Original Mix)
Chymera - Umbrella (Original and Funk D'Void Mixes)
The Fix - Anesthetic (Original Mix)
Marcus Worgull - Dragon Loop (Original Mix)
Spooky - New Light (Original Mix)
Minilogue - The Leopard (Extrawelt Mix)
Thom Yorke - The Eraser (Satoshi Tomii Reconstruction)
FALSE - Sink the Ship (Original Mix)
Matthew Dear - Deserter (Original and Four Tet Remixes)
Audion - Noiser
Avana - Elegy (Original Mix)
The Youngsters - Equestrian Muppet Idol (Original Mix)
Alex Under - Extrapelzo (Original Mix)
Okain - Modulacion (Original Mix)
Christian Paduraru - Born Again (Avana Native Dub)
Gregor Tresher - Anti (Original Mix)
Giresse & Erb - Vacuum (Original Mix)
James Zabiela - Persevere (Original Mix)
Rejected - Let's Go Juno (Original Mix)
Joris Voorn - Blank (Original Mix)
Pig & Dan - Sweet September (Original Mix)
Dahlback & Dahlback - Rolle Nive (Original Mix)
Disco Mob - Dirty Dishes (Patrik Bjorkman Mix)
Joshua Collins - Lilo (Original/Fortier Mixes)
Star & Ito - Sudoko Kid (Fanciulli Mix)
H.O.S.H. - Steppenwolf (Original Mix)
Avex Axiom - JMC Wiggins (Original Mix)
M.I.R.K.O. - Cranky (Original Mix)
Herb L.F. - Miles (Original Mix)
Joroen Verheij - Chica-Go (Rejected Mix)
I greatly expanded my already-broad EDM tastes, and got a lot more experience playing-out. I've gotten a lot better at both mixing and producing. I'd say it was a great year for me.
P.S. - what a useless thread, twat.

BT's "Electrocuted" was a blight on an otherwise very good year in music. Not good so much because of things that were released this year -- I'm never really that "current," so I'm not confident about my ability to evaluate that -- but because of things I got into and discovered.
Son Kite
Minilogue (who are actually the same two guys as Son Kite, I found out a few weeks ago)
Extrawelt
Also I fell in love with acid techno and finally found the Xylem Flow Mix of William Orbit's "Water from a Vine Leaf."
Somewhat unrelated, but I also bought a lot of classical music. Favorites were Debussy's "La Mer" and piano music, Stravinsky, Brahms piano concertos, and Gorecki's Symphony No. 3 (everybody should have a copy of this; even people who "aren't into classical" tend to like it -- sample).

eh, tired of listing shit. It's been a good year of music for myself. As for my favourite dj - I guess I'd have to say James Holden. I enjoyed his show the most and I thought all his sets this year were solid.
once again, another horrible year for trance and progressive is still pretty much nonexistent, again.
It's hard for me to distill my choice of DJ for 2007 to just one (if I had to, it would be Howells), but here are a few who I really enjoyed a particularly large amount of music from this year:
Danny Howells
Sven Vath
Lee Burridge
Funk D'Void
Magda
Omid (16b)
Demi
TA's:
nefardec aka Adam Vana (Tantra is exceptional, but pretty much everything from him is enjoyable)
Bas & Clovis live sets - always fun to hear what friends are playing out
UWM aka Robobotronic Davis - I don't remember the name off the top of my head, but I believe it was from the winter/spring - stuck with me all year.
Mili aka Mili Sefic - Hands down the best DJ in Chicago (though not anymore
), his set opening for Danny Howells this year was unreal.
Cervy aka Milo Wahi live sets - His set opening for Digweed is epic.
Glaniskanis - Pretty much where I find a good chunk of tunes I end up playing for long stretches of time.
Az aka Mark Asbrey - Step 1. Become chemically inebriated. Step 2. Put on any of Az' mixes. Step 3. ????? Step 4. Profit.
Stu Cox - Again, though there wasn't much from him this year - it was all fire hot.
nrjizer aka Tom Delaubenfels - One of the best prog/tech house DJ's on TA, it was a lot of fun to see so many similar tracks in our playlists this year played in very, very different fashion.
...
That's all I can think of right now (need to study sometime
) - but yeah, clearly the locals/TA talent was where it was at for me this year.
A quick best of 07, sort of:

hybrid - until tomorrow (stefan anion & starfire remix)
gaudium - 4 outputs
joris voorn - dirty thoughts
funk d'void feat jay leblone - lovin (your body mix)
spooky - new light (strobelight mix)

Uhm, this year I got into Sven Vath and Luciano Esse some. I also downloaded more stuff from the amateur djs here on TA like AlliedNations and Bas/Clovis. As far as trance/prog I listened to quite a bit of Markus Schulz this year and got more familiar with older trance hits that I missed or just never took the time to remember their titles. Granted the usual Digweed/Sasha/J00F stuff I listen to. Other than that I finally completed my Led Zeppelin collection and whored out Abby Road/Sgt Peppers quite a bit this year. This is the first year I didn't listen to one Paul van Dyk set. I feel bad about that though because he used to be my favorite DJ but now =/.

the year with raves have been ravetastic, even if i didn't see that many big names but tis was fun.
edit, various top tracks from 2007:
Roisin Murphy - Overpowered. track of the year, no doubt.
Jamie Woon - Wayfairing Stranger (Burial Remix)
Lovebirds - Modern Stalking EP
Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own (Al Usher Remix)
Common - The People (feat. Dwele)
Joeski - Hypnotise
Kings Of The Universe - Shooting Star (Acid Mix)
M.I.A. - Jimmy
Peter Visti - Jolene (33rpm)
Bjrk - Earth Intruders (Spank Rock Remix)
Swell Session vs. Seiji - Prepared To Go (Jimpster Dub)
Hott 22 - Want You
4 Hero - Bed Of Roses (Shy FX & T-Power Mix)
Rihanna - Umbrella/Montt Mardie - Paraply
Bloc Party - Hunting For Witches
I feel like I really have a better understanding of what I want to play now and the sound I'm going for when I DJ. I feel like this was my "test" year where I tried a lot of different stuff before finding what I'm really into.
I'm loving DJing right now, and every time I get bored theres always some interesting music coming out or being discovered in back catalogs that makes me want to plug my cans in and get going...
I was also heavily influenced by a lot of DJs, namely, Az, montana, RJT, Bobert, Bas, DROOGs, Bill Patrick, Dennis Roberts, Lee Burridge, Digweed, Three, Damien Lazarus, Von Stroke vs. Matthew Dear, Magda, Howells (as always), Lee Foss, Konrad Black, Shonky, Radio Slave, Rene Lomeli,
I think next year is going to be a lot of fun for me.
I'll post up some tracks later...
Also, this year I have pretty much lost complete interest in Sasha.
my highlights of 2007:
1. Luke Fair's Balance 011 - anyone who knows how deep my love for Luke Fair goes doesn't even need an explanation for this one. by far one of my favorite mixed compilations, ever. i creamed all over it the first time i heard it. also, seeing Luke Fair play twice this year was pretty awesome.
2. discovering Neil Quigley - although i haven't had the chance to see him live yet, i've been completely obsessed and blown away by his monthly promo mixes and his 3 hour live set from Nov 2nd in Toronto. he's an amazing DJ and has brilliant taste in music.
3. playing out - even though it was mostly at little rinky-dink clubs in Milwaukee where i was playing mostly to (and with) my friends, it's been an amazing experience and i feel like i've learned and progressed a lot in the last year. by far my proudest (and most fun) moments were getting to play with Tom (nrjizer) in Atlanta, and playing my first gig in Chicago. also, i totally feel the same way as Clovis in that i've begun to find "my" sound.
4. Mili Sefic - he was the Chicago local who impressed me most this year. his opening sets for Funk D'Void and Danny Howells were fantastic, and he's just a really great guy in general. it makes me sad that he's moved back to Bosnia.
5. seeing Audio Logic Recordings take off - started by a friend in Chicago. he asked me to do all the artwork for the label, and i jumped at the chance since i've always enjoyed being able to combine my love for music with my love for graphic design. the first release took off big time, and it was great to witness my friends succeed like that, and to know that i helped to create the label's image.
6. Sven Vath - i didn't even think i liked techno until i saw him. by far one of the best shows i went to in 2007.
beyond that, there have been tons of DJs, labels, producers, tracks, and so on that i've discovered this year that have further deepened my interest in and love for EDM... but it would take me forever to list each and every one of them. all i can say is that personally i thought it was a great year and i've had a lot of fun.

an overall good year imo

Sander Van Doorn-B.A.D.(By any demand)
Joop-The Future(Rank 1 Remix)
RE:Locate Vs Cliff Coeenrad-We Feel
M.i.k.e.-Moving On In life(album)
Overall it was a good year but maybe not as good as 2006
Also, one thing I forgot to mention... I've gotten a lot better at finding good music than I was previously.
Well, some of my favorite tracks this year are:
Swayzak - Smile and recieve (Apparat Remix)
Guy J - Night Loss
Phonogenic - Last Beer On Earth
Christian Fischer - Advance Panorama
Gui Boratto - Mr. Decay
The Field - Over The Ice
Spencer Parker - You Got To
James Zabiela - No Other Way But Down
Nick Muir - G Platz
Jurgens - Love It (Final Mix)
Joel Mull - Begun The End Has (Original Mix)
I liked "Transitions vol 3" a lot. "Sound" presented there sums up my 2007. Also enjoyed a lot Luke Fair's Balance mix, and Luke Fair's Transitions Guest mix (22.04).
A very boring year with few highlights.
This year has been great. I kept an open mind to new genres of EDM and it has changed what I listen to and spin completely. I went from just listening to trance and electro, to now playing out mostly progressive house, tech house, techno and minimal. I had the pleasure of seeing a few acts but not getting to see many. Some of my favorite djs/producers i had the opportunity of seeing this year were Prydz, Sasha, Cox.
Some of my favorite tracks of the year(mostly recent ones):
Rui Da Silva-Escaping My Mind(Matt Tolfrey & Inxec mix)
Sasha-Park It In The Shade(Original)
Pryda-Ironman(Original)
Cirez D-Tigerstyle(Original)
Plan Tec-Espias Psiquicos(Jonas Koop Psiquic Mix)
Martin Buttrich-Hunter(Original)
Popof-My Toyz(Original)
Deadmau5-Jaded(Original)
Thomas Bronzwaer-Constellation(John O'Callaghan Mix)
Sebastien Leger-Bad Clock(Original)
Arno cost & Arias-Magenta(Original)
Pryda-Storm(Original Mix)
Guy J-Agent Blue(Original)
James Zabiela-Phaser Fire(Original)
System 7-Space Bird(Dubfire Mix)
Dubfire-Cage(Original)
Robytek-Sun(Original)
Dave 202-Torrent(Original)
Purple Code-The Rising(Original)
Pig & Dan-Sly Detector(Original)
Sasha-Coma(Original)
Guy Gerber & Chaim-Myspace(Original)
James Zabiela-Human(Original)
Kaliber-A1(Original)
Christian Smith, John Sellway-Transit Time(Dubfire Mix)
My favorite track of the year though has to be Pryda-Ironman(Original)
Its nothing unique or 5 stars in terms of production but for some reason its the one song I do not get tired of hearing.
Hopefully next year I get to see Digweed, Zabiela, Lawler and Howells.
