Question Where to buy a decent laptop bag?

I posted this in another forum...thought I'd try in here while I'm asking:

Ok, so I've looked almost everywhere for a laptop bag that doesn't look like either a cheap pleather, real leather but 60 yr old businessman, or horrible looking backpacks that are either brown or beige with a bright fluorescent stripe on them. I"m looking for something hip, stylish, or at the very least...slim and not bulky.

Maybe some of you know of a specialty store that caters to this market? Hell, if you know someone who'd make one for me...even better.

Note: it's for a 17" laptop.

I've been inside the Mac store and they're the only ones who seem to offer some sort of stylish laptop bags, but they're specifically made for 17" Macbooks and my HP is 1 1/2" too big for the bag I wanted.

preferably a messenger type bag.

Oh ya...I'm not looking to order anything online.

thnx

have you checked out Future Shop at all?

I know they usually have a decent selection.

Posted by Stilez on Dec-14-2007 04:58:

hey. thx Jen. i did. at the new location in the new complex at the corner of Yonge & Dundas...but they still look too business like and not casual enough. There was one that I thought was decent, but it was only for a 15"

I have 2.. I found my other one at Winners of all places.
The other place that has pretty cool laptop bags is Dell, but I think you can only order online for those.

You can always try looking online at Future Shop, writing down the item# and calling the store to see if there are any others in the area that have that or if you can have it shipped to the store instead of ordering online

Good luck with the hunt.. if I think of any others I will let you know!

ya. I actually have a sleeve.. one of those INCASE ones. looks awesome. Fits really tight though, since it's designed for Macbooks.

Crumpler - damn sexiest utility bags ever. I've got one for my digital SLR but they do laptop bags too.

EDIT: oh yah, you'll have to see if they have 17" bags.

Hey Rob, just wondering - do you have any overheating issues with your 17" HP?

Posted by OutcastTO on Dec-14-2007 15:19:

If you want a great laptop bag for a 17" book, you should check out The North Face "Offsite" bag. Great looking, lots of pockets and built to last (hey it's a North Face bag)

If you want something...

Check out

www.tumi.com

Bags are around $200+. They sell some at Holt Renfrew, but they're not that popular in Canada.

In the US they have stores all over the place. But I've got a few Tumi bags and they're awesome.

I love their Ducati Line

http://www.tumi.com/search/laptop_m...m?modelid=97676

They have a section on their website where you can actually select your laptop model or enter the dimensions, and it'll show you which Tumi bags will fit your laptop:

I just have to say, CRUMPLER BAGS ROCK ! lifetime guarantee for their camera bags, not sure about other stuff though.

Posted by Stilez on Dec-15-2007 00:58:

Thnx for all the replies and suggestions everyone. I went to CRUMPLER right after work and the second I stepped foot in there I knew I wasn't going to leave without a bag.

I ended up getting that one you have there Chris. Sleek.. and exactly what I was looking for. Not bulky at all.

Jason: I don't have an issue so far...but mind you, I haven't use it out much. I've used it mainly at home so far and have it rested on a table at all times where it's pretty cool. I heard that VISTA causes more overheating on laptops than XP? I can't make a valid argument since this is my first laptop.

yah same. I love going to Crumpler stores, they're stuff is so cool. Best thing is they make being a geek stylish and you don't walk around with a big "mug me, I've got a notebook/camera in this bag" sign on
