[Review] M.I.K.E. @ LOVE 12.15.07

I'm glad I skipped out on CG yesterday to hear him play again, no matter what style or genre the man is at the moment he sure does manage to turn it out and then some... Great party by the Core guys even for this shitty weather still was a great turn out . Caught a little bit of Marcello's and Mark Ian's set and wow was it just banger after banger, like always good seeing the regular's out in full force and look forward to hopefully seeing you guys at my bday on the 29th for KvA and Ronski!

I as well had an awesome time. MIKE had a great tracklist. All I can remember is Strange World, Sunrise at Los Palomos, and Someone.
The sound system was EXCELLENT! One of the best I've ever heard. The staff was very friendly too. Great time, great price. I wonder why there weren't that many people there. Maybe the weather?

Hands down not only one of the best M.I.K.E. sets I've ever heard (out of the dozens I have downloaded, heard live), but took Preach's spot as top 3 set of the year... He was THAT good... and a true DJ's DJ... one of the few guys not playing a "what's what" in trance playlists that can all be ID'd... He mixed classics with new upfront stuff, and I have no complains about the set... I'm glad that I caught the fact that he turned the high frequencies down all the way at one point by mistake (leaning on part of the mixer with his midi controller), told Zack to tell the sound guy and sure enough I was right haha!! M.I.K.E. was amazing, and one of the nicest guys in the business, time and time again.. I know he had a BLAST, loved every minute of playing at LOVE, loved the grittiness and underground vibe to it... LEGEND!

i def agree about the underground vibe being present last night, MIKE def rocked it out, from what I could tell everyone was dancing nonstop and having a GREAT time. Loved the classics, that was the icing on the cake Def a good mix of people out there to support, good work CORE in getting the word out!!! Great job with the tunes in the CAVE, was DEF feeling it.

Glad we decided to stop by and good seeing everyone

I think I had a small orgasm to those songs

Question: What was the very first song MIKE played? That song was awesome.

Got in at around 12:45, just in time to catch Tae Seol close out with one of my favorite records, Hydroponic (Thanks Tae!)...I intended to see M.I.K.E., but I couldn't pull myself away from Keryn and Frank's sets.
I finally made it to the main room around 3:30 to catch the beginning of Eco's set -- he played a really epic opener, which, I would later learn, is his new remix of Horizon. The night closed with Gabriel Torres, who was an unexpected surprise. I had never heard Gabriel mix before, but I
absolutely loved the progressive (occasionally vocal) house he was playing through Ableton Live...

Thanks to the whole Core Events Crew for another great night out....

Jake

Because deko has a walk-up crowd? People go to deko, regardless of who the DJ is.

exactly people go to deko regardless of the dj
but what iam saying is that i dont mean to abuse that crowd
but how many of them do you actually think know who mike is?

i bet alot of people would be into it but i bet alot people would be turned off cause they are lookin for the nyc house/tribal sound

if it happened it happens i would be there but i doubt it

i wouldn't go that far. I've been going to Deko since day 1 and i know the crowd, they aren't afraid to change things up. When Deko brought in Sandy Rivera, it was quite a turnout. I'll tell you this much, i've seen Deko do better with just Richie Santana all nite then wit DT doing a guest spot

Deko saturdays have always been a music drivin party so to say people go regardless of who the DJ is def a lie.

Now wensday nites are a diff story. I'm good friends with the resident DJ who does wensday nites and we always said it would be great for Deko to bring a guest DJ for a once a month. Maybe i should have been more specific when i said I would like to see M.I.K.E bookd at Deko...but on a wensday

it gets busy on weds nights?
cause i know its a school/work night for most people
deko closes at 2 anyway so i would still come threw
so if you can make it happen then make it happen

hell when LEF came on that was it hearing that and strange world made my night got in around 1ish wasn t that many ppl prob due to the weather but those that made it out def made up for the lack of ppl there, couldn t decide where i was gonna stand, by the cave or in the main room either way great beats all around was really feling gabes set. there were a few hecklers in the crowd callin him paul van torres and making requests for for an angel (which we didn t get btw) but all in all trekking out in that weather to support locals made it all worth while see u kids soon

sux badly that I missed out on this--esp on the Awesome sound system at love. I was hoping this party would suck but it seems obvious it rocked from what everyone wrote. so far I've missed out on m.i.k.e. and also dogzilla the previous weekend..I've been unable to drag myself away from my new blu ray..
