-- The Effects of Xcstasy

Question

There is just so many conflicting reports out there about what the exact effects of X is...does it cause brain damage or not? I have read many articles and they all seem to not have a conclusive answer. But couple things most people tend to agree on is that the longterm effects are not known yet because no long term studies have been done. Personally I just started using X starting fomr last summer and I did it almost every week that summer, but now I am trying to cut down to about once every month or so, but I am thinking of stopping totally just because I am afraid to cause some serious damage to myself.

I just wanna know what people's thoughts are on this subject and if any one u TranceAddicts know of any good websites with good info on this subject..please Post!

lates...
P.S. This Site Rocks! Keep up the good work Swamper.

This is your brain on E

the best website i found for drug information is www.erowid.org

what E (X, ecstacy whatever) does is it releases the natural cvhemical in your brain that makes you happy (i forget the name of it) it floods your brain with this chemical, making everythign seem muchbetter than it is. Because of this you're depressed afterwards due to a lack of this chemical. It appearently also fucks up your spinal cord and other stuff i don't really know enough about to speak of... that's just what i think i know, erowid would have better facts + actual trip experiences, to see if it might be something yuo want to try, or try to avoid, any drug, no matter what it is, WILL be bad for you if done enough, everydrug has bad side effects, so it's your decision

The 'spinal cord' thing is from opiates in the ecstasy. Opium, which is sometimes s byproduct in impure e, can drain the fluid in you spinal column, making injury very possible.

The chemical in the brain that Davidian is referring to is called seratonin. The big question is whether or not ecstasy damages the brains ability to continue producing this chemical. The comment about spinal chord drainage is a myth. Research has been done on E users where they drain spinal fluid for analysis, this is most likely the source of that myth! Other explanation of back pain could be from pulled muscles from dancing so long or dehydration of the kidneys. Check out ecstasy.org for more info...

Exclamation

Here's a report by the DEA. Ok, it might be just propaganda considering the goals of the DEA but I take it seriously.
http://www.dea.gov/concern/mdma/ecstasy020700.htm

Some other stuff:
http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/mdma.html

A collection of research results: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_journal.shtml
http://www.lycaeum.org/drugs.old/sy...damages.neurons

XTC FAQ: http://paranoia.lycaeum.org/mdma/FAQ-MDMA.html

It seems obvious, according to these research studies, that MDMA use causes partial and permanent loss of serotonergic neurons. It also affects your memory, visual pattern recognition ability, speech, general mood and awareness in the long term. And, since the pills can contain almost any shit, I personally don't see it worth the risk. Good luck peeps.
