Le Freak - An Evening With Itchy Hottin

Hey guys,
So I wasn't going to do another mix this month, but my cousin managed to get me a gig in Rome, as I will already be there for Amore Fest on NYE. This is intended to be a promo CD that I am going to have duped to hand out while i'm there, so i figured before i sent this out to be mastered/duped I would try and get some feedback. If anyone is extremely bored my untalented ass is looking for cd art...but its not as important as the feedback. (I know i played a whole ep throughout the set, it fits the sound i've been playing recently so it is just is what it is). The last track was done in the old school hidden track on the cd way, simply because i want to promote a label that is near and dear to me and love this track..it just really didn't fit in the set. I think it was put in as a nice surprise after an epic plur style hands in the air finisher. So enough with the talk, I'm not usually a comment whore but if anyone would love to shed their thoughts on this i would be extremely greatful. (recorded with cd/vinyl so any slight imperfections will be adressed in mastering while still keeping an organic feel to it.)The intended mood is smoothe to all out drug n chug.

Cheers
J

thanks alot sushi

@ adam: I don't know the name of the place but know its near the Spienza University. My cousin studies there and i had him canvas the city with demos trying to get me some work. I don't think its a huge place, but i'm moving to Germany in 08 and i'll take any chance i can get to get some exposure.

@ASFSE: thanks man, i've been liking the wonky alot lately. You should send me that track you were talking about a few months back.

listening ...

Posted by ASFSE on Dec-19-2007 03:09:

very nice collection of grooves, smooth mixing, and good flow. this mix does what a good mix should do, keeps the floor in motion.

and yeah, i've moved on from that track i sent you awhile back; working on new ones now, i'll keep you posted. (is pming callme the best form of contact?)

Posted by callme:gsmile: on Dec-19-2007 18:46:

yeah dude, pm me i'll give you my contact info. I'm glad you liked it, was deffo going for the funkier side of the tech spectrum...von stroke sans the dirty bird.

dl'ing now. i'm only familiar with 2 of the tracks so this will make for an interesting mix. i'll give a full proper listen to it on my mp3 player at work tomorrow

Posted by spc on Dec-20-2007 16:21:

Thumbs up

I just finished listening to the entire mix and I'm very impressed.
Overall the flow of the entire mix was great, and it really helped me stay energetic this morning at work. There was only one track somewhere in the middle of the mix that I was not really feeling, but other than that it was top notch!

I really enjoyed your opening and closing tracks... that Monoblock track for an opening track is absolutely killer! The Filter Cutz track was probably my 2nd favorite track and worked well for a closer.

Anyway, this is a great promo mix.. keep up the good work

Thanks for taking the time to listen and give a nice review man, i very much appreciate. I would love to know which track you weren't feeling, not that i would or could change it, but posting these are the best kind of research. Primary Feelings was deffo an interesting way to close it as its totally a very different track than the rest of the set, but if you let the dead air play a few seconds at the end there is a "hidden" tracks that slowly fades in and i think its my personal fav on this. Its not a dancefloor destroyer but a beautiful piece of marimba. <3 monoblock

cheers man

Once again you deliver the goods with another set that isn't boring. Well paced and lots of varied sounds to keep interesting.

(and I generally dislike the bloopy tech house/techno)

Posted by mphreak on Dec-20-2007 21:49:

Well, pretty interesting tracklist. Definitely worth checking out. Nice flow, without boring parts, at least for me. Pretty nice story was told trough out the whole mix.
