1. When do you consider someone an "intellectual?"

2. If a person labels himself an intellectual, is that prima facie evidence of pretentious fuckbaggery?

Jennypie considers herself an intellectual.

A panel of experts was seen today in violent confrontation with a group of intellectuals, in an event that caused chaos, panic and many victims across the internet.

i've slept with a few intellectuals in my time, and to be honest if they were really that smart they wouldn't have fucking done it....bbq

It was an amazing experience, right from the 4am wakeup to go pick up my friend (who lived an hour away in the opposite direction to where the ballooning was) to the brisk cold morning air (read: fkn cold!)... but once we got involved in unraveling the balloon so it could be blown up (combination of cold and hot air was used) and we started to lift off man it was fantastic.

completely depends on the person saying so. if they're obviously an intellectual then no, but if they're grasping at straws, yes.

When the person is an academic and not a scientist (refer to Snow's "Two Cultures"). Although the division between the science and the humanities is becoming more and more subtle with time, when I think of the word intellectual, I still think of a historian rather than a physicist
