mad khuntz?

Who in todays trance music do u see as a madkhunt?
like yeah there are the mad dogs of yesteryear like digweed, lawrence, lieb, j00f and co...but todays trance mad khuntz..who actually stick up for proper dance music? who do u rate?

i have always HIGHLY rated kai tracid...he was an acid trance boy who's sound (hard acidic techno trance) ran dry and instead of retiring like dumonde or winging about the sound being dead like so many others - he has recently done the progressive thing and put his rekkid label on the line for tuff melodic minimal (umm early 90's trance - which i am dead-set sure the khunt loved like lil' baby jebus). I loved his old shit cos it showed potential wisdom in youth...i love his new shit cos it shows potential wisdom realised.

HEEEEARING THE MUSIC IS LIKE SEEEEEEING THE COLOURS OF TRANCE AND FEEEEELING THE POWAH OFFFFF ACCIIIIIIIIDDDDD
just listen to aural border on tracid traxx - okay

other guys like bennison and svd rate a bit too in my books...

who u got?

Ferry Corsten, but unlike everyone else not only was he a mad khunt back then but he's a mad khunt now.

always liked the ferry ..made me smile...dunno about the gay bouncey elektro house shit atm..but i can see where u are cumin from :-)

Posted by Fledz on Dec-21-2007 14:01:

Mate, the electro crap is 05/06 Ferry. He's gone back to his true sound for the past year or so

Posted by Light The Fuse on Dec-21-2007 14:03:

then tell me about this true ferry sound

whats it like?

does it have those hollow kick drums?...is it at all bouncey? are the hi hats still cheap?

EDIT;

just skimmed through his december 13th countdown....
and dude....sorry...but i find it to be quite cheap melodic homo-erotic rnb that has been converted to 140 bpm

van doorn
marcel woods

unlike marco "i play house now" v

they have stuck with the tech sound

Liquid Soul? I think he is the benchmark for pure psy-prog [but the sound has been pretty quiet as of late].

Kaito released an awesome deep house album last year and a nice mix cd this year, really dig his deep melodic sound.

Taucher - indeed a big change from fuffly melodic stuff from the "golden years" to this really PHHHHHHHHHHAT dark prog trance, awesome stuff, I beleive he likes to define this age of his style as "adult music". Everybody grows up some time or another lolz.

Digital Blonde and Michel De Hey are worthy mentions as well

denham has turned into a full fledged bush doofer

jules to answer ur question man im not sure who i like these days... since i moved from rekkids to cd's, ive noticed ive sort of lost a wee bit of interest in it all... like i dont know, i dont like shopping online... i enjoyed going to vw every week and buyin trax and talkin to people about the shit... i think these days i buy tracks go oh yeh thats tuff and bang its there, but because i dont have a hard copy original, i just dont really give a phuk... does that make any sense at all?

im really lovin some prog house at the moment... Adam K, Deadmau5, Thomas Gold and James Zabiela are doing good things for me at the moment..

In regards to trance, its still me passion BUT (yes theres a but) im finding it realllllllly difficult to find tracks that i truly love these days... im finding alot of stuff to be either cheesy, or too genre crossing for me. Take the Ferry Corstens - Beautiful.. what a fucking awesome track... its relatively new early 07, but the sounds of the track are a few years back and i love it... i really dug the tracks from 04, 05 and 06... 07 for me, hasnt been that big a year in trance for me. That and ive gone to some crap festivals lately

These days i hang for events like san tran, cos i know regardless im gona love it because the tracks are fuckin nostalgia baby

LOL Dunno about bush doofer Vinny but yeah I'm loving psy in all it's forms at the moment. I guess I'm having trouble interpreting Trance the 'genre' but not Trance the 'sound'. To me it's all about the sound and I guess I'm getting that from psy. I'm a massive fan of Trance and each to their own with their interpretation of what that means but the 'genre' just isn't (fully) delivering for me right now. I'm really hoping that will change but ... meh I'll find my version of trance the 'sound' anywhere I can!

KAI TRACID I was a bit shocked to hear he produced some minimal/techy tracks, but once I heard them was surprised, pretty good tracks!

There are still heaps of young guns producing quality trance tracks. Pretty sure theres already been a thread bout it somewhere.
