[Review] Paolo Mojo, Zack & Keryn, NYC Locals @ Webster Hall 12/21
I got a little delayed in getting there so I missed the free admission and open bar. None of our names were on the list or the girl was looking at the wrong list but she gave us a discount ticket for 20$. Got there around 1AM, Zack and Keryn were spinning. I really enjoyed their sets. Actually I think they spun the best set of the night
I never got to hear Mike's set because he played in the other room and don't know if he ever got around to going on in the main room later. Not sure who spun in the coffee shop either.
The turn out wasn't to great and def not much of a TA presence. There was another party going on in one room and hip hop in the other. The main room was about half empty at first and got emptier as the night progressed. I only saw one familiar face on the floor (Seb) said hello and went to the booth to say hello to everyone else and stayed there for most of the night. The vibe was much better there actually. Nice seeing Chris Luzz, Zack, Keryn, Seb, Mike, Erica, Tom as well as meeting a few new people that were apparently Zacks friends from College or something. Not sure if I remember what they said correctly. The crowd on the dancefloor was mixed but mostly strange haha! They had a Christmas theme with some lasers and a shinning stars backdrop and the booth seemed lower than it usually is.
I wasn't feelin Paolo's set much to be quite honest. It just wasn't my taste. At some points he sounded like his set was about to take off and a good track was coming on and all of a sudden it would turn into....nothing and the whole flow changed back to going no where fast If that makes any sense at all. One highlight was he played Underworld - Crocodile but may be it was another remix or just the vocals layered over something else don't think it was the Oliver Hunteman Remix but IMO it wasn't the best remix of the song he could have played. I know I prob sound like I'm being picky but if he would have spun even the original mix it would have at least got me dancing a lil bit.
At one point one of the bouncers came back stage (the big 40 year old black guy named Hightower) and took the glowsticks from Erica and started liquiding on the spot. We were like LOL go bouncer! haha so he proceeeded to tell us how he used to go to Twilo hehe
After sitting and chillin for a bit I got really sick, ran to the bathroom and vomited like 8 times
The room was fuckin spinning! If anyone was wondering where I disappeared to....I was in the bathroom downstairs behind the booth and we locked ourselves in there and listened to Corsten's Countdown on Erica's cell phone as I was trying to get better...ummmm party in the bathroom I guess :P I pulled myself together and somehow made it up the stairs. Then got a pounding headache and just couldn't bear to be there much longer. I got home around 5am.
Pics and vids on the way. Due to being sick I didnt take many.

I would have to agree almost exactly with what was written above. I thought the best sets were the residents on just before (Zack and Keryn?). They were really good build up sets, but i guess i havn't been listening to enough of Mojo's crate to go solely on track recognition.
I thought there would be more progressive electro house with flair, not just lumbering basslines.
Ref: listening to Ferry as you are puking...LOL! true TA.
Aside: Speaking of him, flashover has some awesome new artists/tracks like Rafael Frost ( Street Punk - White Russian (Rafael Frost Remix)) and Randy Boyer and Eric Tadla (Lustral - Everytime (Randy Boyer & Eric Tadla remix))...he must be playing them on the countdown (both these were in ASOT 328, check out if possible).

so it's always a good time for Ferry no matter what is happening
The evening started out well enough. Met up with Z beforehand and we had our Christmas with her and her family, thanks Z! We did miss the comp admission and open bar and they gave us a hard time at the door. Said I wasn't on the list (after sending e-mails and posting in the thread like 80 times, I think she just didn't know what she was doing...) but they gave us reduced admission finally anyway, so not terrible.
The place was rather empty when we got there, even less crowded than it was for SvD. But everyone who could have been, excluding those hip hop folk below, was in the room listening to Zack and Keryn. Zack and Keryn, you guys were amazing! Loved your set, and loved how you guys were tag teaming, that was so cool. Z with her almighty powers that be, got us to be able to hang out in the booth, which was really fun for me, and that's where we stayed for the whole night. Mike, I wish we had been able to catch your set in the other room. Next time
Unfortunately, time had gone by and Zack and Keryn finished playing. I'm not one to give a bad review, and with being rather new to the scene I don't always have an educated opinion to give, but that was the worst party I've ever been to. I kept thinking he was going to start playing something good and then he didn't. Most of the crowd left. Z started not feeling well, and we were in the bathroom with her. I started playing music on my phone to lighten the mood, and it was sooooooo much better than anything we were listening to there. Once Z felt well enough, we got the hell out of there and went home and went to bed.
Highlights of the evening, hanging out with Z, Zack and Keryn's music, getting to hang out in the booth, hanging out with Zack, Keryn, Mike, Chris, Tom, Heather, and Lawrence, the bathroom lady remembering me every time I go there lol, and that cool bouncer Hightower raving with my sticks.
And that's all I can really say about that.
Got some fun pics tho
pickshures....

First of all, my stupid ass went to the west side of 11th instead off east so i missed out on the open bar. I was fortunate enough to get in for free. When i got there, Connie? was spinning and kept me guessing what kind of a style it was. I dug it. Then i met up with Mike, Keryn and Zack. Mike took me behind the decks which was freaking awesome. After the opening DJ was finished Zack & Keryn came on and started killing it. I really enjoyed the tag team and the set. It kept me moving. It felt as in you guys should be the main DJ's. There was a big circle were some breakdancing were doing their own thing so i jumped it and had some fun.
I went to the coffee shop room to check out frank and he was banging out some good fucking tunes. I was with my friend from work + his friend and they really enjoyed this new to them style of music. Unfortunately Frank didn't have a big audience and its a shame cause what i heard was fking proper. As long as your having fun, thats all it matters. Frank was done and i went back to the main room.
I'm surprised that more people didn't show up for this gig, but then again there were ton of people downstairs in the hip hop room
. Who cares.
The friends that i was with pussied out and wanted to leave early. Got me a lil mad but whatever. This is why i always like coming by myself cause i like to stay and party late. Because of all of that, i only caught about 10 mins of Paolo's set so i cant comment on that.
All in all, it was a fun (but way too short) night. Im looking forward to more Core events, cause they always always bring it to the table.
Merry Christmas.
haha the boucer (hightower, aka the batman) was the man! we were talking for a bit and he was really f-in cool. totally into the music too
zack and keryn were def the best djs on the night in the main room. and im not just saying that cuz we're friends... you guys def caught the vibe of the crowd. i liked a few of the tracks connie dropped as well. [/QUOTE]

Video's...(sideways lol)
last night was a lot of fun. Great seeing everyone out as always! Paolo Mojo has been a huge influence on me as a dj the last couple years, and opening up for him is always a great time. I liked what he played although I thought it was a bit more geared towards a smaller room, as opposed to a big, slightly more commercial place like Webster Hall. My favorite track of the night was him dropping James Holden's - A Break in the Clouds....one of my all-time favs.
Overall, great night, even though it wasn't packed. That was mine and Keryn's first time playing at Webster and I gotta say, that system is a lot of fun to be in control of. Hope to be back in there soon.
Friday was so much fun. Webster wasn't that crowded, but I had a blast playing on that massive system and of course hanging out with everyone!
