The first hour alone is enough to put it in my Top 10, but the last 35 mins still sucked huge for me.

I LOVED that movie. first hour was not too funny, but the way all the jokes pieced together in the last 30 minutes GOLD...Won't be everyone's style but I thought it was classic.

The Worst:

Hands down I Am Legend gets the award for worst cliched film to date. Definately one of the most unoriginal films in a very long time... and to think its opening week beat LoTR - Return Of The King says quite alot. Either people love Will Smith or they just know how to market the man.

Bourne Ultimatum - UGH - I swear it was deja vu when watching it... I fell asleep to that movie 3 times in a row... until I eventually got to the hand to hand combat fight scene the 4th time around. That was quite remarkable. However Paul Greengrass' shaky camera effect is inexcusable. Its the most irritating effect a director could possibly use. Felt like I had some kind of bobble eye syndrome for 2 1/2 hours.

Spider-Man 3 follows - 'nuff said.

The Best:

Shooter - made Jason Bourne look like a joke. Easily put the entire trilogy to shame.

Gone Baby Gone - utter amazement that Ben Affleck managed to pull this off but gladly he only directed and not starred in his directorial debut. Excellent film and one of the best this year.

The Kingdom gets a nod but can't say its up there with the top 10 best. Good films are very hard to come by with the CGI overload during the present time.

No Country For Old Men - haven't had the pleasure to see this film yet.

Saw a bunch of films this year.

I don't think I have a favourite. Some of the good ones included:

- No Country for Old men
- Tranformers
- SuperBad
- American Gangster

I haven't seen Eastern Promises or the Daniel Day Lewis movie but I'm sure they would make the list. Both look sick!

Posted by kabelicious on Dec-26-2007 01:57:

I didn't really watch the bad movies - I listened to the critics.

My favorite movies of this year though:

Stardust
Superbad
Eastern Promises
Mr. Brooks
Elizabeth: The Golden Age

Those are all I can recall that stand out.

Stardust in particular - but I already love anything that Neil Gaiman does.

def a bunch of movies i have forgotten to see.. this listing has helped me find something to do this holiday

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Dec-26-2007 09:02:

I'm sure I'm missing a couple of movies that I've seen. I've also haven't seen 20 movies this year, so I'll just put down which movies disappointed me as the "worst" (even if they weren't really bad movies, just disappointing), and which movies were actually good as the best. It's also hard to order some of these movies, so I'll just list em in a somewhat descending order:

BEST:

WORST:

ALLRIGHT:

im a big time action movie fan...each one of Bays films i can remember are all crazy and over the top ass kicking......
Bad Boys
Bad Boys 2
Armageddon<---kind of sappy, but you got Bruce Willis to even it out
The Rock
The Island

i never seen all of Pearl Harbour but lots of action non the less....

Bay is a big-budget action director... it's what he does... mindless entertainment with the no depth or intelligence (LET'S HIDE THE CUBE IN THE CITY!). You can't make a Transformers movie without it being completely ridiculous. Somebody's gotta do it.

My top of 2007: No Country for Old Men. Simply mindblowing. Sunshine is up there too, followed by Superbad.

Really want to see There Will be Blood, Wind that Shakes the Barley, Atonement, This is England, In the Shadow of the Moon, Juno, plus many others.

My worst of 2007: Across the Universe. Visual artistry was amazing but characters and story fell into all the common musical genre traps. Sweeney Todd was pretty bland too... time for Tim Burton to get off the German expressionism train.

Also, it's worth mentioning that, while I've only seen bits and pieces, the new Blade Runner Final Cut looks pretty damn sweet.

i agree i usually dont like the work of michael bay

however,
i thought transformers was a great action movie and it as a movie did almost everything i wanted it to do.
i think michael bay should be staying away from movies like 'pearl harbor' that are based on historical events because that movie was pretty badly done (in the words of matt stone & trey parker from team america 'i miss you more than michael bay missed the mark when he made pearl harbour, i miss you more than that movie missed the point....why does michael bay get to keep on making movies? i guess pearl harbor sucked...')
but an action movie based on a cartoon with lots of special effects as a necessity (how else you going to get giant robots to run around?) i think he mightve found his niche and i personally am waiting for transformers 2

Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine) like trippy visuals plus a heartwarming story of pure inspiration. one of my top films of all time. touching and powerful, please go see this work of art.

the story is on par with 'Life is Beautiful' and the book 'Man's Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl...... nothing is impossible.

are you kidding me? that movie looked sooo bad. they weren't even close to the same size that the chipmunks were

Posted by RobotHouse on Jan-13-2008 14:00:

Death Proof and Planet Terror didn't make anyone's list yet?

Knocked Up, 300, Planet Terror, Death Proof, AVP2, 3:10 to Yuma, Superbad, Zodiac, Eastern Promises, 28 weeks later

worst:

Halloween, 1408, Saw IV

i really wanted to like halloween, and it had its moments but the dialogue was just so bad and rob needs to stop casting his wife, however smoking hot she is.

there were a lot of movies i knew would be bad i didn't see, like resident evil and shoot em up for example and if i had seen them i'm sure they'd make the worst list.

i still need to see juno and no country for old men, but since ill be watching them in 2008..
