Sad Grave of the Fireflies = me crying anytime

Grave of the Fireflies (Hotaru no Haka) = me crying anytime, and i can't do anything about it... it's just simply this - THE MOST TOUCHING, ANTI-WAR MASTERPIECE OUT THERE!!!! i finally solved the fucking puzzle from my childhood (aprox. 1988-1991). i remember watching a very sad movie/animation about a boy and his little sis, and how this little girl loved candy which she always had with her in a small metal bottle, and then her brother was taken into custody for theft of cabbage and then the little girl dies in the end...omg this is the saddest motion picture i've ever known. i re-discovered the masterpiece some half a year ago and then i promised myself never to watch it again cause it was so sad and depressing.. today i watched a small portion of it again and tears just started running down my face and i'm like whoaa....holy shit i just love Ghibli Studio..

i'm done

Gonna add this one to my "to watch" list.

That was the only remotely good animation from Ghibli I've ever seen. I simply hate the rest, but I admit this one is kinda moving...

Posted by blacknoizybox on Dec-24-2007 05:06:

the animation isn't about teenage unrequited love and wrist-cutting, you fucking retards.. take your emo-lmao-rofl shit somewhere else..

Posted by Capitalizt on Dec-24-2007 05:16:

WAT

You didn't like Kiki's Delivery Service?

Posted by blacknoizybox on Dec-24-2007 12:42:

i'de also recommend Spirited Away... a beautiful animation. and Whisper of the Heart..

guys from Ghibli have a strange obsession towards little girls

Posted by Ghost Raver on Dec-24-2007 12:52:

I haven't watched this one yet, but I'm going to someday as I absolutely love Ghibli. Spirited Away is currently my favorite one from them.

Am I the only one who thinks "Spirited Away" is just a nipponified version of Alice in Wonderland? It also felt like I was watching the video for Ken Ishii's "Extra" at one moment, but without the banging techno music rocking my socks away.

And Kiki who? I watched "Spirited Away", "Pricess Mononoke" and slept throught that "Totoro" film... and I thought there was really no point to keep watching the animations if I didn't like them

edit: Added the "Ken Ishii" reference.

how do they call you then?

Yah, I remember smth also very disturbing from my USSR childhood JapAnime experience - Hadashi no Gen

They had this movie about Hiroshima & Nagasaki, where they show a family before, during and after the bomb. THE ABSOLUTELY MOST DISTURBING F*CKING MOVIE ---------- EVAAAAAAAAAR!

They show the part when bomb goes off and how people are on fire, people's and dog's eyes melt out of the sockets, and other lovely moments. Then they show how the family dies from radiation poisoning.

It was definitely awesome to show 8 - 9 year olds in summer camp, very uplifting friggin movie. I still have nightmares about it. It was the most horrifying and sad movie at the same time. Little baby dies too.

Here's another somewhat scary/sad French Anime of that time, Les Matres Du Temps.

...and Here's a light-hearted sample of the Russian Animation - Secret of the 3rd Planet. this one is funny and cool and looks like it was totally influenced by Beatles' Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band:
