Aliens Vs Predator: Reqiuem

completely ridiculous movie, but it was pretty entertaining. I'm a big fan of the Aliens and Predator movies, and this was a suitable installment in the 'VS.' series. Again, it was totally laughable and stupid, but a decent amount of fun.

best moment in the movie...Shawn from 'Rescue Me' yelling "Get to the Chopper!" in a throw back to the original Predator. I think only me and one other geeky kid in the theatre laughed at that.

Was gonna check it out last night and the night before, probably go tonight. I ended up watching the first AvP on TV on Wed. - I agree, silly but entertaining - I like them

Aw dude, noooooo. That movie was just bad man lol. Caught this one last weekend. I'm all for checking out cheap movies for a good laugh but this one really wasn't too cheap, just kind of unremarkable. Like watching a long episode of something on the Sci-Fi channel lol. I've seen all the Alien movies up until Alien Ressurection, and I've only seen the original Predator so it was cool to see an updated version. Actually I think Predator was the coolest thing in the movie. Everything else was just bosh. There was relly no plot at all. Some aliens crash on Earth... chaos ensues lol. I thought there was a lot that made the movie kind of unremarkable, like the fact that they threw in some highschool/college kids just like half the horror movies out there. They threw in a random little girl i.e. Aliens 2 and my roommate tells me that even that terrible line from the end "mommy, are the monsters gone?" was a rip off the old Aliens movie.

The way the whole thing was produced you could've really replaced the aliens with zombies or just about any other random monsters and it would've been the same. It was really just an okay movie for me. Funniest part was when the alien burst through the little kids chest in the forest. It's crazy that someone that young could act out his own death lol. I wonder what the director told him to do for motivation lol. Best death for me was when that girl got caught with Predators chakram lol. This would've been the worst movie of the year for me... if only I hadn't seen Balls of Fury.

did you see the first Aliens vs Predator? This one stared where that one left off.

you're right though, the movie was unremarkable. I grew up on the Aliens and Predator movies, so I always see them immediately when they come out. I go in expecting the plot to not really make sense. Also, I think you're underestimating the makers of this one's sense of humor. I think a lot of the things you mentioned...like the random high school kids (everyone was dying when the black kid got killed first), the corny dialoque...were all supposed to be kind of tonque in cheek. The original Alien was a serious movie, I don't think Aliens Vs. Predator is supposed to be..

to anyone else who saw the movie, the fight scenes were so freaking dark, you barely could tell who was killing who. the aliens dont even look realistic like in the alien films. it was more like a prop just moving around. hopefully, if there ever is a third sequel, it should be directed by someone else.

but i saw all the aliens and preditors
but i saw the first alien vs preditor and its a horrible movie
the plot was not bad
started out ok but after that it was too predicable at some points
then at other when the preditors didnt kill the black chick but they were helping her? lol
didnt make sense

haha, ok, forgive me if this gets a little dorky...

a lot of people thought when the Predator teamed up with the girl in AvP 1 it was a little stupid.

I don't think people understand what the Predators are about though...
remember in Predator 2, when Danny Glover follows the Predator into the spaceship at the end, and discovers that they are actually inter-stellar trophy hunters...after he kills the main Predator, like 5 more come out, and let him live. They wouldn't have gained any honor by killing him at that point. They hunt humans for the sport of it, unlike the Aliens who kill everyone and everything to eat and to reproduce.

so, in AvP 1, when the Predator realizes shit is getting out of control with the Aliens, and sees that the girl can hold her own, he teams up with her. I admit though, that when they run off together down the hallway it is really corny...I think the concept of them teaming up is pretty badass, its just tough to make work in a movie without being corny.

another thing i noticed was in preditor 2
when danny glover is in the space ship and theres all different types of skulls all around
i think there is a alien skull
and that movie was made in early 90's
so they kind of hinted maybe about the alien vs preditor movie even back then

There were alot of nods to the earlier movies. The skull trophies. The army chick and her daughter, a nod to ripley and newt in aliens. the apv they were driving, the tank scene in aliens. "get to the chopper" predator 1. I'm sure there were more.

I thought the movie was better than avp 1, but I think the predalien concept was stupid. But somehow it worked? Honestly I'm not really sure how you can turn this concept into a good movie anymore. The main predator guy was pretty badassed though. I thought the ending was stupid. Especially when the predator and predalien are just like screaming at eachother with fangs and all that - come on.
