New Mix Idea for all the TA DJ's...
Hey There everyone! I hope that people are recovered from the New Year and that everyone is ready to rock it in 08!
My idea for this mix is this...
We as a community create a mix. This would be a download only mix of course. No time limits and everyone has a chance to add to it. but here are the rules...
1. You have to wait until the person before you is finished with their part before you add to it so that you can mix out of their last track.
2. (What do you think about...) DJ's have a maximum of 8 tracks and no minimum. (To keep the mix moving steadily.)
3. The recording settings HAVE to be consistant. i.e. your recording levels can not go above -20 db. (This keeps the mastering of the mix simple.)
4. (I volunteer myself) The mix will be mastered each time it is given to the next DJ and released for download to the public. (DJ's will receive the un-mastered version.)
5. Track listings MUST be presented!
6. No money is to be made from this mix.
7. Credit to the DJ will be given! (One Master Post that will be modified each time.)
...........
What are your thoughts? Do you guys think we can do this? Do you think that we can have our own "Year In Trance 2008" CD by the end of this year with a compilation of more music than ever before?!!
I can start this off by offering my mix "Winters Summer" to begin this ultimate mix. (The mix is going to be uploaded and posted after work today.)
your thoughts?!!!
Anyone? 76 hits and no one wants to do a collaborative mix? I'm gonna keep this up and see if you guys want to get together with this!
I think this is a great idea actually. However, I don't own any recording equipment. It's already hard enough for me to even get to someone's place to make a mix. I'd be down to come in make a mix with you when the time comes right, though.
We can do a collab for sure! I would love to sit and actually talk through this and take time our time with it! If you need to use recording equipment just let me know!
Count me in Lukasz! Lets get this going! This will be Sick!
The record for the longest continuous club mix is currently 84 hours. I think we can break it if we try!

This is awesome!!! I'M Excited!!! Ok... how do we want to begin this mix?
Isn't that 84 hours one person playing and gets like one 15 minute break every eight hours?
Know there is a record around those numbers of hours with one person spinning solo and it was webcast...
I think DJing that long is absolutely pointless, lol.
Anyhow, cool idea but if you want it to be good in the end you prob need some more guidelines.
-BPM range overall. Someone will throw 145+ stuff in there at any point if they can!
-No Cheesy ass vocal trance should be allowed. lol I love trance, but man I know some of you are into the CHEEESSSSSSSSSSSE. There is good vocal trance and then there is cheese....and when it comes to TAs, it's usually some crap vocal track from a producer or label they like and thus they love it and I bet if it was some bedroom producer they would listen to it for 10 secs and stop it. But because they love th eproducer or label, they play it in the peak of their sets. I don't understand it, hehe. I see it in the videogame world to. People will love said game from said favorite game company or game designers...when the game is ass. They will still buy it (much more than a music track) and try to justify what makes it good. It makes me laugh cause if the same game was made by some unknown developer those same people hate the game.
-BPM range between one track and the next (cause I know some people on this very board who will just slap in some track that kills the whole flow and increases the temp by like 8BPM in one track if the track they are coming off of isn't fast enough).
-An era range for the tracks? Dunno. Just I am sure a few people will slap some old ass crap where it will just seem outdated and out of place within the set.
- Organize who wants in and what styles they are comfortable with. And PLEASE BEG everyone to be flat out honest. There are some DJs (on here) who will say they know or are comfy with playing a style and then when you hear them they obviously don't have too much experience with it...or hell, have the genre all wrong! Then from there, if it's their turn and the style totally doesn't fit them....then skip them or something? I dunno, I'm not gonna figure it out lol. But you don't want someone who plays house music playing after someone mixes in some psytrance track. This might be the biggest part of making sure the mix isn't crap in the end.
And I'd probably make a maximum number of tracks overall so it just doesn't go stale. Not saying 20 or 30. It could be 100 or more. Just need to define a number so people know that it's getting close to end and end it off right, hehe...

Certain remixes of Satellite certainly WERE NOT cheesy vocal trance. For the most part it isn't. It's actually a good vocal track overall (compared to 99.9% of vocal trance out there), lol
Well, I recall hearing decent remixes, and not to re-ignite a thoroughly old argument, but I've pretty much sided well with its detractors who would categorically toss this in the dreadful vocal cheese bin.
All good points Dave!!
I dont want to rush into this and really take a moment to iron out how this is going to be created. What the guide lines will be. The obvious what will happen if you do not follow them. Who will be the Master Chief in command in holding all of the mixed data...
I do like the idea of a limit in how many tracks there will be on this. I also am thinking that DJ's have a limit on how many times they can add. 1-2 tops. This way we can have more DJ's and a nice selection of tracks!!
What about requests to be the DJ to mix a certain track?
hmmmm....
im in
We should do a line up for this mix...
It would also be cool to kind of approximate a goal for the length. That way we could include many different styles without it seeming like a trainwreck by giving each style a proper sized timeslot. (a slow transition through different styles to take you on a journey) Just so it doesn't get too stale; which is probably going to be the biggest hurdle for a mix that long.

Im in,
i think you should do a lineup list and close it prior to the mix beginning to be made. And maybe even stucture the set according to what djs play what, so it can be a big evolution that encompasses many genres along the way. I.E dont be dropping 145 psy prior to 130 minimal.
i'm from Australia and certainly would like to be involved. I agree with the idea of struturing djs based on what they prefer to play (bpm wise).
as i play 125 - 130bpm i presume i would be near the beginning
We should start this with someone who does electronica, the DT flavors that is! Start this at a nice slow pace of 80-100 BPM!! move it on forward to the electro/progressive side 120-130, onward to the electro trance/trance side, 130-140, then... the hard side!
So DJ's... POST YOUR STYLES!! BPM preference included!!
techno, 126-ish up to maybe 130
Hey Blur... Wanna ask Artieee if he wants to join in on this? We can pass this to Taj and and others to really get a lot of flavors going!
1. progressivemojo - techno 126-130 bpm
2. Josh Allen - progressive and psychedelic 133-136
3.
Do you have any mixes online Josh? I'm curious about you style.
