Review: Pablos Ceballos @ Mod Club (X-Tend NYE)

I've always thought that Chus was the one that really took C & C to the next level... technically, tune-wise, etc. But honestly, after hearing Pablos absolutely destroy The Mod Club so effortlessly, I think it's safe to say this guy is completely up to par with his partner in crime.

His six hour set was not only better than the last three or so Chus & Ceballos nights, but ranks as one of the best sets I have heard live in the past year. Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who has grown tired of the predominate tribal sound......

He weaved through so many different sounds, from dark chuggy minimal, sprinkles of vocals and trancy melodies, and of course his signature iberican tribal sounds. Technically, he was so fucking on point it was scary. Highlights for me were Martin Buttrich - Hunted, and the absolutely ridiculous remix (ID?) of Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin

Wow. Expectations blown beyond belief.

Ceballos > Chus - seriously.

RLY? Ive only seen them together so far at Stereo...and Pablo bored me that night...

I guess i need to see him solo to see what he can deliver.

As I had said early in my review, I felt that way before as well. Maybe playing solo gave him a chance to get a better feel for the night? I know back to back sets are fun and all, but I find it hard to really be at your best when doing so.

all I can say is, incredible, totally unexpected, and best new years party ever!
first time at Mod, first time hearing Ceballos and what a mind-blowing experience it was to see the two in combination.
his tracks had me bouncing from start to finish. he spun right until 7 and even jumped off the stage at the end to mingle with the crowd.
after that night, ceballos --> my favorite house dj

i agree with Jeff. ceballos > chus
still in awe at the moment.

OUTSTANDING, underground at 6am......ridiculous.....
Ceballos, destroyed, MOD club, what a cool venue, sound was ok,

I felt the same as everyone, about Ceballos, he was unreal, he loves toronto, and we love him, .....Keep Pushin On,

smiles every where.....

the best party of NYE 2008 hands down.

Would be sweet if that was recorded...anyone?

I thought the same until Tuesday night, I'd say they're pretty equal after witnessing that. Ceballos was rocking on Tuesday night.
