**Anyone ever been to Extrema outdoor? **

Figured I would ask this in the TOTA forum since you are a well-travelled bunch.

Anyone ever been? A lot of the sites I find on it are in dutch so its hard to get a feel for it. Date set for July 19, 2008.

We are going to DV and will be staying for 12 days....this popped up as an option for one of our weekends.

What to expect? (musically, vibe, tickets, etc......).

Also, whats the dress like? I know some festivals people get all dressed up (costums, etc) where as others you wear jeans and sneakers.

I notice, as well, that its near Eindhoven (sp?), any suggestions on easiest/cheapest transportation from A'dam? We are actually flying out of a'dam the afternoon AFTER extrema so we need to get back fairly qucikly.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

I really wanted to go to this in 2006 because my friend didn't have enough money to go to Dance Valley. I think Nada went this past summer, she should be able to help you.

Holland is very small so from Amsterdam it shouldn't be more than 90 minutes by train. Don't expect a cheap hotel if you don't want to stay in a hostel;there aren't many hotels in Holland outside Amsterdam and the ones that do exist are very expensive.

^^thanks. We were hoping to not stay in the town, rather, since its a day-time festival (from what I see), take the train/bus back to our a'dam hotel afterwards. (also because, like I said we are flying back to New York the next day). Hopefully this is feasible.

You absolutely MUST go to this Kel!

To answer your questions:
Anyone ever been? A lot of the sites I find on it are in dutch so its hard to get a feel for it. Date set for July 19, 2008.
Get your tickets in advance - they WILL sell out.

What to expect? (musically, vibe, tickets, etc......).
Musically it's generally a house event, but lots of good variety. Techno, electro, minimal, commercial stuff...

Vibe is great! And the location they had it at last year was GORGEOUS, the stages were set up in a semi-circle around a lake (look at my pics on Facebook). Crowd wise, definitely a lot sketchier than DV...but not in a bad way.

Tickets I believe you get off the website - don't wait until you get to Amsterdam.

Also, whats the dress like? I know some festivals people get all dressed up (costums, etc) where as others you wear jeans and sneakers.
Where whatever you like...but be comfortable. Bring a sweater for the night when it's cold. It's all grassy and stuff too so be prepared if it rains, it will be muddy! There are lockers you can rent if you get there early, so you can always bring a change. You can dress up if you want to - but not everyone does. A lot of the girls there too seem to dress up in like prom dresses and stuff...dunno why, I'd rather be more comfortable so I can DANCE!

I notice, as well, that its near Eindhoven (sp?), any suggestions on easiest/cheapest transportation from A'dam?
It'll take you probably an hour to get there. What you have to do it take the train from Amsterdam to somewhere else, and then to Eindhoven (I forget what the city is before...you'd have to check with you get there - unless Jenn/Nada/Ali remember). Then when you get to Eindhoven you hope on the Extrema bus and they shuttle you to the area, then you have to go for a 15-20 minute walk to the actual grounds. Give yourself LOTS of time if you need to catch a plane.

Unfortunately there's LOTS of walking to these massives - ESPECIALLY the DV one...be prepared hahaha

The city before Eindhoven where we switched trains to go to the festival is Den Bosch I believe....

EXTREMA is a ton of fun Kel...if you're going to be there you might as well go check it out.....may I remind you it is NOTHING like Dance Valley so don't expect a similar crowd, music or layout.

The wicked thing about extrema that it is located near water (lake) so it nice to go chill by there listen to some beats when it get a bit hot during the day. Last year it was Ali, Jenn and I who made the trip to Extrema and we left a little early because we had to catch the last train back to Amsterdam. We wanted to stay for an after party where Rene Amesz was supposed to spin. Jenn wanted to stay after for a techno afterparty but that didn't happen girl....we got on the train and zzzzzzzzz all the way till the DAM!!!

bitch call me sometime and i'll give you more deets!!!!!so excited for you

Lisa summed up a lot.

Your music is going to be more along the progressive, house and techno side. I only know of a couple trance dj's on the lineup last year and one for sure was Junkie XL (who I wouldn't go to see anyhow). The biggest is going to be progressive and techno though.

Yes, their site is all in dutch, but you can click on an english version as well I believe. That is where you are gonna most likely buy your tickets from cuz once they will go on sale they will sell out much faster than DV will. You are looking at about 65 Euro for the day event.

It is in Eindhoven and you will travel there by train with one stop to change trains. It will cost you about 30 Euro for the return trip. As Nada already pointed out, there were afterparties there (this year the techno party was Adam Beyer) but I had to catch a flight the next moring so I couldn't stay for it. Your last train back into Amsterdam is around 1130pm and then there isn't another one until 7am the next morning so you don't want to miss that last train unless you plan to hit up a club in Eindhoven. The train ride is approximately an hour as well. If you need to know the train schedule before you go.. go to www.ns.nl and it will tell you everything and for what dates

The crowd for me was a lot of fun there. It was my first time going to Extrema and I had a blast. I didn't see Lisa, Nada and Ali much cuz I was in the techno tent most of the time, but I met a shitload of cool people there (plus others I knew from there already) and I ended up partying with them all afternoon/early evening until I met up with everyone again at the end of the night for Lawler. And my only advice like with DV is just make sure you are comfortable with what you are wearing and always bring a sweater or something with you just incase. These events always have lockers that you can get a key to for 5 Euros for the day just make sure you get there fairly early to get the lockers cuz they do run out.

If you need to know anything else, like the girls have said.. just give me a shout and I will be more than willing to fill you in on what you need.

Wish I was able to go with you guys this year again
You will have to have fun for me too.. I can't wait to hear all about it!!
