baby
despite being all for reducing the world populaton one of my best friends had a baby this morning and i'm happy. what do i buy this little bundle of joy? fyi my friend and his wife have a good chunck of money so their daughter probably has everything known to man. any creative ideas?
get him a bottle of whiskey...
itll be real good by the time hes old enough to drink it
If they are rich go to Neimans or Bloomingdales and buy them some nice baby clothes. But don't get 0-3 months, everyone gets that shit for them and the kid wears that size for like 3 weeks. Get 6-9 months, they will appreciate it because they can use it later when the baby grows out of all the other clothes people gave them.
Write them a personalized card with a link to Vivid's thread about cutting the world's population in half.

good idea about the clothes for an older baby...gotta find something good so the baby keeps it for a while. this is a friend that i feel the need to spend a lot of money on...god and we aren't even that close anymore since he got all domestic on me.

People seem to overlook how much the woman is neglected at times like this. It is incredibly hard for a woman to go through 9 months of body changing, hormone changing baby growth, and immediately after, have to take care of a screaming rodent. Not to mention, she gets coddled, and paid attention to for 9 months, and then BAM baby is here, who are you?
Women often suffer from post-partum depression because of this. If you want to get a valuable gift, I would suggest getting her something special (a certificate for a massage or something else equally nice).
As for the baby... if you want this to be something special to the kid, you want to get him something the baby is going to get attached to. Something like a fuzzy blanket, or a teddy bear. If you want it to be a helpful gift, diapers and clothes, a rocking chair (if they don't have one), a diaper genie is good, a baby bathtub thingy, etc. etc.
or u could get something for the baby like a teddy or something. My dads mate bought me one when i was just 2 days old & it was my favourite growing up. it's still in my wardrobe
Watch the polar baby eat the penguin baby.
thanks theresa, both grandmas i think will fly out to help take care of the new baby and my friend is taking maternity leave to stay at home to help his wife with the baby. good idea though.
Hey Wai,
Here's a link to the Jacadi site. They have a store on Madison Ave. and they have really amazing hand made baby clothes that are of an heirloom quality. Oh, and they're crazy expensive!! That's where I shopped for my first niece!

Awesome baby stuff for cheap. It's great quality. Look for a diaper bag if she doesn't already have one.

If you go with a teddy you may want to go with one that is mass produced as opposed to hand made, as they have to meet safety codes(tho not made in China.)
I bought a beautiful bear for my niece that was in a boutique in tribeca and after a while the head fell off! Dangerous and emotionally scarring.

i'm a fan of elephants...our college mascot was jumbo (aka dumbo) the elephant so would mean a lot to get that for his kid. plus elephants are awesome
