this first storm seems to have peaked about an hour ago here in the SF bay area. definitely the strongest storm we've had in about a couple years. woke up to a mess of fallen branches and trash cans in the middle of the streets. and no internet at home (i'm assuming that's why SFTA postings are so slow this morning)

i'm just pissed i decided to come into work... i want to check out the pier in pacifica, and fort point under golden gate bridge, where the waves break 20+ feet over the shore/pier/streets. i love this kind of stuff! and it actually puts my fancy north face gear to use.

Posted by HotDogWater on Jan-05-2008 00:25:

about time we got some decent rain!
though it makes me wish for 1) a garage for my car and 2) decent drivers surrounding me when i'm on the road...

So who's home doing what?

I just got back from dinner and it kinda sounds like it's pouring now!

that rain sucked ass. Just finished driving back from San Fran to Orange County. Saw a couple tipped over big rigs on the 5 S and N, was windy and rainy while in San Fran and while driving back.

T'was my first trip to San Fran w/o the parental units planning the itinerary. Spent most time at Union Square, how i miss Nike Town down here, and Fisherman's Wharf.

Funny whoever mentioned the North Face gear since a lotta ppl had it there, where as when I was in college in Nebraska the unofficial winter brand was Columbia.

Not nearly enough people rockin basketball shorts in San Fran. Either you all wimps to the cold, not cool enough to rock b-ball shorts, or dress lot classier than folks down here, either way, bball shorts - 1, San Fran - 0.

Cool place to chill, though due to weather can never see myself living there.

Good to see you made it back safe!

Rain sucks.

But my friend in Tahoe says they are expecting 10 feet of snow in the next 48 hours and winds up to a 100 miles an hour.

Thankfully, they still have electricity.

But, after the storm, imagine the snow!

While the weather has really F'D up my commute to work (as in, rain Thursday morning blew my umbrella apart on the way to the bus stop which is a long walk for me and it never let up until it was just too late to go to work...then today (Friday) Golden Gate Transit was shut down most of the date because of flooding on the 101 and no large vehicles allowed on the golden gate bridge), overall it made me go "Whatever"

Move to the South/Southeast (ie. Florida) when it's not in a drought.

I am still shocked whenever there is any type of storm that's more than a drizzle, it's a downpour. Seriously, what I consider sprinkling in most cases is a "downpour" here...I remember when I would drive on same days in Florida past the hood of my car when driving in the rain...or see my mailbox when look out the front of my house. That's rain! :-p

:-p
