Talking Paul Van Dyk or Push?

Well honestly..This year ive been officially converted to a paul van dyk addict. With songs such as autumn..and Suzann, one has to wonder why do some people hate him. My favorite remix by Paul van dyk remix is his remix of Joker Jam - Innocence. Then sometimes all he does is throw a beat in a song and call it a remix. I really didnt dig his remix of Massive....except for one sequence.

Push is a great artist...but im more into his productions under the alias M.I.K.E which are more soft and emotional. Sometimes i think he is overrated with such hype over his lackluster remix of madagascar which was poooo. But then u have an incredible remix of Matanka-In a dream....but then i was kinda dissapointed in his remix of sinead oconner - troy....the climax too damn long....almost 5 min into the tune....

Bottom line..I think paul van dyk was risen this year..to the top on my favorite producers list surpassing tiesto( who has fallen and doesnt want to get up with horrible remixes such as his remix of Hungry and mediocre remix of Faithless)....Push is a pretty damn good producer...But Pvd still lies higher than him ...IMO..

WHAT do yall think

Posted by drizzt81 on May-03-2002 01:03:

why decide, if you can have both?

I might like PvD a bit better, since i LOVE his livesets and think he has more variety, but some of the PUSH productions kill me!

PUSH!!

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on May-03-2002 01:53:

Easy one! PUSH! PvD is a good DJ but I don't like many of his productions.

Posted by Polar on May-03-2002 02:12:

PVD.... haven't really heard a lot of Push stuff though.

Posted by Adjacent_raver on May-03-2002 02:19:

Theyre both equally as good as each other. You simply cannot compare them because their sounds are completely different.

Posted by tranceaholic on May-03-2002 02:30:

i think push productions are money. they always hit gold.. i like pvd but sometimes he misses like his nec set and last years mayday was a disgrace so push for me.

PUSH

. both make amazing productions [ the list is endless...both rock!]
. both have their "own" unique sound [u ALWAYS know if its a pvd or push production, when u first hear a track

= cant compare them.

they are both my favs [producer' wise]

DJing. PVD for me....but...erm well i dont know, havent heard him [PUSH] dj

Sorry folks...

I say Push without any hesitation. He just has better productions and remixes. Some examples: Universal Nation, Strange World, The Legacy, Tranzy State, and other songs under his different aliases. I used to like PvD, with such songs as Beautiful Place, Forbidden Fruit, Words, Another Way, and Tell Me Why, but his recent tunes just suck. Even his remixes suck. I agree with whoever said that he just changes the beat or bassline of a tune and calls it a remix.

Just my take.

Smile

Speedracer_mec....you also forget that i got you into sander kleinenberg too.

Personally i like them both but then again, i do own all pvd's albums, so i'd say pvd.

#1 PUSH

You guys are only bringing up PUSH songs, what about all of his great tracks with other aliases.

Some songs from other aliases of Push that should be certainly given a listen to. These are some of my all time favorites....

Plastic Boy - Can You Feel It
Plastic Boy - Life Isnt Easy
Plastic Boy - Angel Dust
Moon Project - Moments are Forever
Virtua Trancer - Reality in Me
M.I.K.E - Sunrise @ Palaimos

PvD is one suckfest producer.

some of his remixes were alright....but that's about it!

Push has some KILLER tracks, so definately Push.

(BTW: For An Angel is THE most overhyped piece of steamy dog shit ever. Yes, the E-Wurk club mix too. they all blow. nothing but Ferry Fucking Corsten himself can save this monstrousity...)

PUSH!

Posted by Dave_Masters on May-03-2002 07:28:

Production wise PUSH rips the arse out of PvD i dont think anyone can disagree.

PvD's productions are all to simple. And alot of the time sound mono tone.

Push (m.i.k.e) has so much originality it unbelievable.

On the subject,

i thought it was furkin' gay how people went mad over

Space brothers - Everywhere i go (PvD remake)

For a start its not a PvD remake, more like a (push remix- PvD Rework)

I think people were unaware that it is actually the Push remix with just a PvD kick and bassline.

As you have probably concluded i say PUSH without a doubt.

Posted by tu_face on May-03-2002 11:32:

all this is my opinion so dont get on yer high-horses just yet!

productions: push kix PvD's ass tiger style. always has done always will do this is simply put down to variety and quality of work.

djing: ive always thought pvd is a decent dj, although much of the recent times ive seen him play he's been pants, so i think he's goin thru a shit patch. push on the other hand, has never dissapointed! so yet again push wins!

so all in all, push kicks the ass of PvD

Posted by E.Sv on May-03-2002 11:59:

Strange World [2000 remake] is one of my biggest favorites, but I still prefer PvD

Posted by THCbrainTHC on May-03-2002 12:09:

I'd go for Push.
Not because of the fact that he's Belgian but his productions have NEVER, NEVER disappointed me.
It is Universal Nation that did it for me.

such hype over his lackluster remix of madagascar which was pooo

what do you mean by that?
This track (AOT - Madagascar (Push Remix)) is one of the best so far this year (imo).
PVD's productions are also good, but I prefer PVD as a DJ (gatecrasher 2002 set=BANGIN).

Posted by shoXx on May-03-2002 12:10:

I like some of Push productions, but i still prefer Paul. His discography is amazing to me.

And "For an Angel" is not overhyped. It's an antheme, an antheme for trance.

Satan (eek!)

PvD RULES

Posted by Raptor on May-03-2002 12:31:

PvD ! his mixing is getting really insane and his latest production TAKE ME HIGHER just drives me insane!

Posted by Haak on May-03-2002 12:45:

PvD should try out some different kicks and basslines! M.I.K.E. has so many different styles and he always comes up with something new and different.

DJing-wise, I haven't heard much from either of them. I only heard Push's battle of the dj's cd, which was great. But I really liked PvD's set at Mayday
