Roll Call: SUPERCHUMBO - Tom Stephan @ CiRCA on Friday January 11 2008

Tom Stephan was raised in the western New York town of Olean but moved to London to go to college. It was in London that he started his DJ career, opening up for Danny Tenaglia and eventually hosting regular house nights at the Turnmills club.

Superchumbo's set is in the "Mirror Ballroom" at CiRCA - which provides the perfect intimate atmosphere for his unique brand of party house.

Superchumbo is one of my favorite party DJ's. Tom Stephan has always delivered an exciting, energetic party to Toronto and this Friday should be the same.

I was REALLY hoping to go to this but unfortunately too much stuff has been going on lately and will continue to go on for the next couple of weeks.

I always seem to miss Tom Stephan for whatever reason...

SuperJimbo is named after SuperChumbo. I have to be there.

This would have been a perfect first time for Circa... loves the Chumbo.

The Chumbo was incredible at SONIC on Dec 22 about a year ago (2006). I hope the turnout is bit better this time around...I imagine it will be...

I went to circa this past saturday for the first time... sure its a nice venue but the music was terrible in the mainroom, it was z1035 house mega mix untill about 2 am then a decent dj came out who spun some decent beats nothing spectacular but much better the z1035 megamix house. Its sad to to say but the best music in the whole venue was in the washroom bar (which was basicly empty every time that i passed through). The crowd was meh.. lots of hot chicks but everyone mostly just stands on the dancefloor which is a real pet peev of mine and there are fights which dont get broken up because it seems that security doesnt know what they are doing.

I wouldnt mind checking out Circa for a proper dj tho...

I'm fairly positive its the bigger room upstairs that caters strictly to the gay crowd on Friday nights....???

I really wish he was playing the main room. What's the deal with having a TBA on the flyer for the mainroom??? That's about as lame as it gets in my books...

I really like circa (only been on saturdays and usually stick to skye vodka room) but there seems to be a lack of organization at all ends.....how do you not have your mainroom booked when you have superchumbo booked in another room???? Let him play the main room!!!!

This past saturday sky vodka room was HIPHOP so was the other bigroom upstairs... House music was only in the mainroom. I just dont see the reason for spinning commercial house music when there are other rooms that spin commercial music in the club. Those people go to the club for different reasons, be it to pick up, to get wasted, to look cool. Most of them dont give a rats ass what music is playing... I know i didnt when I was 18. So why not play good music in the mainroom the entire night ??? Im sure its not gonna piss off your average clubbers as much as it pisses off househeads to hear the z1035 mega mix in everyroom of the club.

Hiphop upstairs? Is that new? What happend to addy?

CIRCA is just doing what they have to....cater to those that enter the entertainment district on a regular basis. I think we will find that the headliner DJs that we would like to see will play the other rooms and not the main room....unless of course they have a Tiesto or Armin character there....then it will be main room.
