new Usher track

Anyone hear the new Usher track with Ludacris, called "That Girl Right There"

it's got a really interesting beat, i'd say this would be considered pushing the envelope of today's hip hop. while a lot of other tracks at the moment have experimentally strange beats but don't necessarily sound right, this one is pretty daring but also sounds in-harmony.

check it out:

What in the world; umm No. [thumbs down]

Posted by RapidFire on Jan-09-2008 06:10:

sounds like a rubber duck being squeezed in the background

Posted by majicmike954 on Jan-09-2008 06:37:

sounds awful, like usher is tryin to find that different beat that timbo uses for justins songs, the melody doesnt even match

Sounds like shit. That duck squeezing nonsense might have been OK for a 2 second effect but certainly not the whole beat.

Absolutely awful.

i mean really....

it'll probably make a million dollars though. Doesn't matter how shit their music gets, the RnB lovers will lap it up.

well i don't know why all your guys' tastes lay in such an opposite direction from mine on this track, but i like it a lot. That synth is wicked!

come on, SOMEONE else has to like this!

Not me. Sounds like Whistlecore [Rubber Duck Remix].

Posted by StanVoid on Jan-09-2008 13:29:

i must admit, it's pretty surprising to see this synth get mocked by a forum where so many people like farty electro bass lines. what, you guys like farts but you don't like a rubber duck!?

Oh...god.

hail marry!

I actually think the thing I feel is most wrong with the tune is Usher's voice.

I don't mind the beat at all, and think it at least tries to do something different from most of what's out there right now - though I could see getting really, really sick of it if I heard it a lot. Who did the production on it?

My ears are bleeding...I hear enough of this shizzle just going to town!

So why are you posting this on a section of the board specifically dedicated to talking about TRANCE?

Read the main forum page:

"Music Discussion

where do you see it saying this section is only "about TRANCE!!" you moron? this is electronic music as well. move on.

RJT - yeah i do agree that Usher's voice is not as fitting in this one as it has been in his other singles, but what makes up for that is Luda's voice. I think he's got a harder edge that works well with the darker tone of the beat. Anyway, Rich Harrison did the work on this one, although i'm pretty confident in saying that he was heavily influenced by Timbaland.

You talk about it as though it were even something worth writing about. "not as fitting", lmao

Yeah - it was OK, but that just didn't cut it for me either. Regardless, I think the route Harrison took on this one could prove to be an interesting one if the whole Timbalind influence trend continues. One thing that was kind of odd about this one for me was that for some reason it reminded me loads of Outkast - Elevators (I know, clearly two very, very different tunes), which is one of my favorite tracks.

And since when is hip-hop not legitimate EDM?

I'm pretty sure that's about as legit as it gets. Do your homework kids!
