Wind warning for City of Toronto

Strong westerly winds 60 gusting to 90 km/h.

This is a warning that damaging winds are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A rapidly intensifying low pressure system is tracking northeastward across central Ontario this morning. A strong cold front accompanying this feature is quickly moving across southern Ontario and is accompanied by severe winds. The strongest wind reported so far is over eastern Lake Ontario where Point Petre reported a wind gust to 133 km/h. Another intense wind gust passed through Toronto which gusted to 107 km/h.

In general in the wake of the cold front..Strong westerly winds of 60 km/h gusting to 90 are forecast mainly near the shorelines of the Great Lakes and along the St Lawrence river. Strong winds will persist for a few hours before diminishing below warning levels a little later today.

Got some water damage on the first floor of my mom's house last night. I was up till about 4am, and I have never see the rain so heavy and relentless in Canada.

I heard part of the business district was roped off to street traffic again today because police were concerned about pieces flying off buildings. Apparently the CIBC sign on the CIBC tower was looking pretty shaky.

It was, down on Wellington tonight around 7. Police barricades, tape etc. Near BMO/TD/CIBC.
