Flashing Yellow Lights

Several lights around town are out right now and the usual dumbasses are at it again.

WHEN A TRAFFIC LIGHT IS FLASHING YELLOW IT DOES NOT MEAN STOP!!!!

You only stop on a red flashing signal or when there is absolutely no signal at all!

How many accidents are caused this way I wonder??

ONTARIO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ACT:

Flashing amber

(17) Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing a flashing circular amber indication and facing the indication may proceed with caution. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 144 (17).

Stopping at flashing red light

(21) Every driver approaching a traffic control signal and facing a flashing circular red indication shall stop his or her vehicle, shall yield the right of way to traffic approaching so closely that to proceed would constitute an immediate hazard and, having so yielded the right of way, may proceed. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 144 (21).

Penalty for disobeying red or amber light

(31.2) Every person who contravenes subsection (15) or (18) is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $150 and not more than $500. 1998, c. 5, s. 26.

People in Toronto and Surrounding areas don't know how to drive.

That being said, I would rather see someone stop at a flashing amber and then proceed then to ignore it all together and go flying through the intersection.

REPEAT COMPLAINT!!!

This is your 2nd (maybe 3rd) time complaining about this.

I hope you're hungry!

Agreed. I see that so often when the light is completely shut off (ie should be treated as a 4-way)

I an accident is caused by someone hitting someone that stopped at a flashing yellow light... IMO is the not fault of the person that stopped. The other driver sees that same light and should know that they to are to proceed with caution and be aware of their surroundings.

when you're driving.. you should be driving defensively.

The problem is not from behind. The problem is that the idiot who has the red comes out into the intersection assuming im going to stop for him. I definately slow down at amber but i dont stop. Today i was in an 80 zone slowed to 60 when this guy came right into the intersection as i was about to enter it. i had to skid to avoid him!

And yes ive said this once before on here but seeing as due to wind so many lights are out i figured it was relevant to today. Its a very dangerous situation. I blame 680NEWS for always telling everyone to treat it as a 4 way stop

King Unique has flashing lights.

Although, what they do with them is still a mystery to me.

Hahaha, Del tells the best lame jokes ever.

I totally agree with Jayx1 on this one!

Not just Toronto...but anywhere in Ontario people treat it as a 4 way stop..WTF! It is very dangerous.

I work in Michigan, and everyone there drives through the yellow flashing as they are supposed to. I have yet to see one person stop at a yellow flashing.
