Texas couple name kids Lexus, Porsche and Audi
quote:
At some point in the past 20 years, it seems as though parents abruptly decided to switch from names like Michelle and Jimmy to names like Madison and Hunter. The naming trend obviously didn't sit well with one Texas couple, who decided to name their children after luxury car manufacturers. The Lone Star duet named their first child Lexus after the new father saw a Lexus driving by. The name Porsche was shot down for the first child, but when Craig and Sondra Harrington found out they were expecting twins, Ferdinand's namesake was back in the fold. To keep up with the German naming convention, the other child now dons the Audi name. As it turns out, the Harringtons aren't even car nuts, but they may be a bit looney. Something tells us the twins had better be a couple of tough hombres, because they're likely going to have to get physical to keep kids from picking on them. Besides, Texas is truck country. Shouldn't they have gone with Silverado and Tundra? F-Series is probably a bit over the top, but Sierra could make a great girl's name.
That's nothing. In Venezuela, some people give their kids really bizarre names:

Software searches of the voter registry find more than 60 people of voting age with the first name Hitler, including Hitler Adonys Rodrguez Crespo; eight Hochiminhs, among them Hochiminh Jess Delgado Sierra; and six Eisenhowers, including Dwight Eisenhower Rojas Barboza.
the girls @ Raisin's on South Park were all named after cars.

The quote mentions the couple wanting to keep up the German naming scheme, but I thought Lexus was owned by Toyota, which is Japanese. Maybe I'm wrong.
Also, props to the couple for....creativity?
Yeah, Lexus is an American company owned by Toyota, lol.

I think you are misreading the quote. I think what is meant is that they wanted to keep up with the German theme from "Porsche", not Lexus. Anyway i'm not even sure Porsche is German?

Originally posted by Tranc3 If I recall correctly, the man whose car line is named after him (Porsche) started Volkswagon right before Germany got all hostile...the second time. The autobahn (one of Hitler's projects) had just been built (although it was nowhere near the size it is today), and Hitler wanted a car cheap enough for the average German family to buy. The whole point of it all was to get out and enjoy the countryside. Only a thousand or so units were built before the war started, and of course with the war came rationing and such - something that would probably catalyze the populace to be more pacifist nowadays, but that's a different topic. Anyways, the point is Porche spawned Volkswagon, and hopefully you recognize Volkswagon as a German company.
He got around quite a bit.

"Classy" names, I'm sure between them at least one will have a successful career writhing between the sheets for "classy" movies.

Can they legally name their kids after car-manufacturers? Aren't they registered trademarks, or doesn't it matter for personnames?

Lexus is common here.
I'm naming my first born Veedub.
People who name their kids like that have probably never even driven one.
