Well im representin Staten Island, NY.
So I was wonderin, Ive been to a few clubs in the city.
Ive been to Exit and Webster Hall.
Im only turning 18, so I got time ahead of me.
I would like some of you more experienced clubbers to tell me what you think of some clubs in the city.
I know there is much hype about Twilo.........Can you be more specific....Is it the people, the atmosphere, is it a big club like exit, or a smaller cozier one like Webster!

Twilo
smaller than Exit. Best DJ Lineup & Sound System in the States. Exit & Factory are bout gettin laid. Twilo is for muzik lovers. The vibe & energy is phenomenal. This friday Nick Warren & Sander Kleinenberg. www.Twilo.com
I know that in factory and exit there are a lot of e heads, and sometimes that ruins my mood
is it like that in twilo?
There are definately a good amount of people on drugs at Twilo but definately not as much as Exit..everyone at Exit is high on something
There are drugs at EVERY club.
The difference is Exit & Soundfactory have DJ's Johnathan Peters,Johnny Vicious, Tony Draper, Boris & to boot shitty sound systems.
Twilo has Sasha, Digweed, PVD, Anthony Pappa, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, Carl Cox, Deep Dish, Sven Vath, Josh Winx, Mauro Picotto, Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Sander Kleinenberg etc.
SF & Exit is more of a pick up scene. Ppl go there to get fucked up & get laid. Twilo is about the muzik, dancing, & the vibe. Everyone is friendly & nice plus Twilo has the BEST SOUND SYSTEM in the States.

Of course its gonna be packed, The best DJ's the world are playin on the best sound system in the world! But It only gets ridiculously PACKED on S&D, PVD, & when Danny Tenaglia comes. & no I don't work for Twilo just live there. hehe

Twilo Rules
Even though the dance floor gets really crowded, try the v.i.p. room. Its not always crowded and you can still hear the muzik.

but the system isn't as good upstairs plus the dancefloor is tiny. It's good to chill on couches but its get MAD hot in there...like a sauna. The bathrooms are better.
true, true. But sometimes its better than getting stepped on all night. (Especially @ PVD shows) I love it all anyway. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
twilo / pvd 4-13-01
twilo probably has the best lineup consistently... just having pvd, sasha, and digweed as regulars beats out all other clubs! but as a DC native, i gotta say that BUZZ will give twilo's sound system a run for best sound system on the east coast 
nod goes to twilo for the best laser effects! they're f*ckin amazing!!
yeah, pvd nites are always crazy. the lounge upstairs doesn't get as hot as downstairs, tho, and u have a lot more room to dance in. what i do get annoyed about is the way twilo's bouncers have been treating ppl lately. i've talked to some of the twilo promoters, and they all seem to agree that the bouncers have gotten a lot more 'heavy-handed' with everyone.
diff. note, i was at twilo last nite for pvd... GOD!! one of the best i've ever been to, in any club. pvd ripped up the turntables. i talked to one of the promoters, and it seems there was a bunch of threads on the net about how pvd's been slackin off a bit.. not playing hard/fast/new tracks at twilo like he does in european clubs, and sticking to old songs (for an angel, out there and back, etc), stopping at 8am when the club is still full and ppl are still going full-blast, blah blah. supposedly, twilo owner (or someone else) sent the msgs to pvd, and he replied 'i accept the challenge'... now i don't know if all this is true or not, but DAMN! he was INCREDIBLE!! and he spun from 3 to 11, instead of 2 to 8 like usual. personally, i like his new style.. not gonna say if it's better or worse than before, but i definitely like it. if anyone knows where i could get this set as mp3, PLEASE let me know... but then, 8hour sets are hard to come by
anyway, enuf rambling. lemme know what u guys think! twilogoddess, maybe we can hang out next time i'm up there!
PVD was good friday night although I didn't stay to the end many of the peeps I came with did, my friend colleen got her crutches signed by him and when he closed with for an angel and threw the record out into the crowd that had to be pretty nuts, but thats ok cuz saturday night at twilo more than made up for it :0) mihehaha
PVD @ Twilo
Pvd's set was bangin on friday. He was simply incredible. I was on the main floor for the first couple hours, then i went to the V.I.P. room till 6 B4 they kicked us out. The main floor was mad packed. The V.I.P. room wasn't bad though. Alot of room to move and music was still pretty loud. A good mix of new and old stuff. The first couple hours were all relatively new material. Towards the middle he mixed in his mix of Blank & Jones "Cream" and "Out there and Back." Well worth the two month wait.
Are you comparing to friday or saturday night factory???
I think you guys better go to a real factory night before you start to criticize it. Jonathon Peters is the most amazing dj. This goes for the system as well. If you go to SF on friday night(18) the system is not even close to pushed to its full potential. Go on saturday night(21) and you will hear your trance pumped louder than ever. While i havent been to Twilo in a while so im not gonna bash it. I remember the lighting system being amazing and the system was "good". Also it always had the rep to be full of asians. Not to sound racist, but who wants all of one race filling up a club. Much like the left half of the floor at Exit-hahaha! Anyways im sure Twilo got better since i last went there and i want to check it out again, but i dont see how you can call the Twilo system the best without even mentioning SF. Somebody who has been to a real factory night please reply!

as for just one race filling up the club, i doubt that'll ever happen. i hope no one would pass up pvd or any other fav. dj just becuz not enuf of 'other races' is at that particular club!
I hear what ya sayin. Actually the main point of that last post i made was concerning girls. If there are tons of say asian girls(while i have no problem with them, as there are madd cute ones, they tend to stick with there own as well). Hence less fun for a guy like me. Let alone hook-ups. Now trust me, i go for the music just like some of you out there. I probably love electronic music more than most of you out there. God when im at factory and i have been there all day and i need a break i dont leave. First i sit down on the speakers or the steps and absorb the music for a few hours. Im just in my own world, happy as can be. Then im ok to go. BUT i also like to meet girls and have fun. So if there are madd girls at a club that tend to stick to their own, it kinda sucks. I can see myself building a SF rep on this board now. hehe There has to be somebody who is 21 on this board or at least who can get into Factory who can relate with me!!??!!??
Sound Factory
Sound factory isn't bad and i don't think jonathan peters is allth at bad. however, Sound Factory's lineup doesn't compare to Twilo's. Maybe if Tiesto was a regular I could see myself going there more often. When Dj's come to Twilo it"s a EVENT. As for the asians in twilo, I don't see anything wrong with them representin. If anything, PVD is considered a God by asians. From my experience from the past two years, the asians do usually sit on the right side of the floor. But, so do alot of other people and they all hangout together. i haven't had any trouble talking to the asians girls while @ twilo much less anyone else. Everyone is relatively friendly and pretty chill. Everyone is there to enjoy the music and have a good time. Sound Factory is by no means a bad club but, needs marque names to draw the crowds. I probably rate it second behind twilo and ahead of exit.
I agree that Twilo has more events. It is a good attraction for all types of DJ's to spin. Many uk dj's will usually go there for a set. But the reason i love Factory so much is that the music is consistant. You know you can go on any given saturday and hear Peters. I think he puts on an amazing show. Anyway im gonna hit up Twilo, maybe saturday instead, ill have to look into what the best night to go is. Then ill let you guys know what i think. I still think best system goes to Factory. All these people who are raving about the system at twilo only go to 18 nights. Although i have to say that even the old system at Twilo was very good.
Twilo vs Sound Factory
Well, definitely check Twilo when Paul Van Dyk is in town. I think its definitely woth it. How many dj's do 6-8 hr sets? I will definitely check out Sound Factory again on saturday. Hopefully, Jonathan Peters will live up to what u say.
Twilo vs. SoundFactory
Cool, uh oh the pressure is on. Peters has his days where he performs better than others. But all in all he will always give a great performance. I recommend going there for like 4:00 if you do go. Needless to say i would be very surprised if you came back and said you didnt enjoy yourself. And ya when i go back to Twilo I will make sure to know who im goin to see. Paul Van Dyke is amazing but usually not energy filled enough for me. I would still love to see him live.

Stateoftrance...haha i totally agree with you...the asians tend to stick together...but dont the whites and blacks also? hmm what race does it matter to like the music? i know youre not trying to sound racist but...u know? i'm asian myself...and i am sick of that left corner crowd at exit..haha dam..those are what you call super etards...they just go for the drugs...but thats not me...im only in clubs for the music and chicks..=)

Stateoftrance....i used to go to SF on Sat nites all the time btwn jan of 99 and jan of 00.....the last time i went was to JP's b-day bash in jan of 00 and i vowed to never step foot in that place after that party....bc it sucked...and even people I know that still go to SF today still say that party that nite sucked. And I've been going to Twilo since May of 99....so I've spent a decent amount of time in both clubs and by far the better club is Twilo. Their sound system far beats factorys....you cant get better then the Phazon digital system! At SF your ears ring from sitting in front of the speakers and they pump the musik soo unbelievably loud the bass distorts. You say that SF doesn't pump the musik the same on a friday nite...and that may be true I've only been to Sf once on a friday and it sucked...but I can assure you that Twilo's system is pumping everynite that club is open. Friday by far draws a bigger crowd then just junior on a sat nite at twilo. Juniors begun to loose his big following and mostly just the old junior-ites still attend juniorverse...thats why Twilo has added more european DJ's to the line up on Sat nites before JR spins. But I digressed. One thing I will give SF is that they throw some crazy theme parties. The club takes on a completely different look for that nite. But you say that JP spins soo much trance.....he spins mostly house...progressive, hard, vocal. I'll give you that he'll throw in some trance here and there....when I was a SF head he used to spin matt darey...pvd's remix of cream....but nothing cutting edge as far as trance goes. And should we even mention the amount of equipment JP's got up in the brand new booth of his?! Does the man even deejay anymore? Right now JP's focus seems to be krystal and spinning the longest sets in NYC.... And I'd rather here the line-ups at Twilo for 6 or 7 hours spin quality trance and other genres then hear JP spin "filler" musik for 15+ hours. I'm not saying JP or SF is all bad....I used to love going to that place....it's got its good points....but I honestly feel that Twilo is just on a different level. You should definetely come check Twilo out....you might become hooked! =)
