Officially a trance addict!

I just thought i would bump in here for a bit to tell peeps how i got into trance.

Back in the day i always liked "electronic" music, but my first real taste of trance, especially that spacey, melodic, melancholic, dream type was when i first heard "your not alone" by "olive", i didn't pay too much attention to the genre back then, i just enjoyed the sounds, but lately i have been downloading lot's of trance and i have come to really appreciate many trance tunes to the point where i am addicted to it, my ipod is full of music of all genres but trance is what i mainly listen to, while working out, driving or just chilling on the laptop.

I think that we trance listeners are unique in the sence that we appreciate music in a diferent way, we "feel" it, and it takes us to another world, in a sence, cause i have friends who like it to a certain degree, but don't feel it, it's like they don't let there imagination go with the flow, anyways i would like to type down a few of my all time fav tunes (top 10), so i can get some ideas from you guys of other tracks according to my taste....

My ipod has about 500 tracks but these are my top 10 from best to least best....

1) Destination sunshine - Dj johan gielen (Dj tiesto power Mix)
2) Lost in love - Kimball Collins (Dj Taucher Mix)
3) Seven cities - Solar Stone (armin van buuren Mix)
4) Open your mind - Yahel (Tiesto Mix)
5) GameMaster - Lost tribe
6) Carte Blanche - Veracocha
7) Voyage - Yahel
8) Love Stimulation - Humate
9) ready to flow - Trance allstars (dj taucher Mix)
10)Hydra - Affinty (thrillseekers Mix)

those are my top 10 favs..........But i am a HUGE fan of very melodic, dreamy, haunting, tunes like "when things go wrong" by "airwave", "the awakening" by "york"...."alcarda" by "ATB"...."Wavy gravy" by "sasha"......ect........so if you guys have any ideas for any good tracks i might like please let me know.....also, is there any kitchener people in here?.....seems like kitchener town doesnt have many trance fans..........anyways....I am glad to see there are lots of trance fans outthere especially in canada....peace.

Recommendation #1: Rename track 1 to Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine (DJ Tiesto Power Mix)

Recommendation #2: Start buying your music from locations such as Beatport and Audiojelly rather than downloading it illegally (technically, this is first in priority and makes recommendation #1 obsolete).

Recommendation #3: Visit the TOTA forums, there are plenty of people from Kitchener among other places in the GTA in that section.

Hi shade, yes your right, it's from balearic bill, it was named wrongly on my itunes list, also most of the things i download are not illegal, only when i can't find a certain tune that i may do that, but that is like 1 % of the time.....also, where is this TOTA forums your talking about? thanks

Ok, my apologies for making that assumption - the track being named that way somewhat throws me off, but let it be. I linked the TOTA (Toronto TranceAddict) forums in my post, but here it is again, more straight forward http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...php?forumid=12.

Congrats on being a new member that has an idea of what Trance actually is.

while you are at it also rename track #2 to Legend B - Lost In Love (DJ Taucher remix)

Not to be a dick (well, maybe just a little), but this is hardly a unique trait to fans of trance music, and to think as such is rather condescending of those who enjoy psychedelic rock, world beat, orchestral, space ambient, reggae dub, minimalism, and other forms of 'head' music.

that quote makes us sound like druggies which is a stupid old stereotype :S

Hi everyone,
To Simcut, actually No it doesn't make us all look like druggies, i guess what i ment is that we have open minds, we have imagination, and are smart, i mean just look at the replys that i have gotten , they are all of critical nature, the replyers are not conformists, your average top 40 listener usually doesn't have critical thinking, or creative imagination, anyways i am starting to sound like a freak...lol.......so let's just say that the "takes us to a diferent world" is not a "literal" interpretation.

Hi sykone, i think they are also "unique" listeners, with a diferent taste.

and sorry for mislabeling "lost in love".....again...lol

Yep you are starting to sound like a freak

Hehe... some of those other 'trance' sites out there would make you change your mind about that.

I give you a generous 18 months before you become cynical, jaded, and start listening to tech house instead.

Not sure what you mean, first of all i don't like house, i think it's retarded, neither do i like techno, never heard of tech house before, and it doesn't sound too appealing to me, trance is something i've been faithfully listening to for about 1 and a half years now.

Does anyone have any suggestions for tracks?

Please and thank you....also i am not sure if i am in the right forum or seccion of the forum, so if i am not please let me know......peace.

Faithful to one genre of music? Why?

Posted by hardcoreraverRL on Jan-15-2008 03:04:

Smiley DJ

I think the first time I got into trance was when I went to my first rave back home in dublin ireland I saw the sickest psy/hard trance djs @ this rave in the industial part.. The music really captured me just the feel of the music..and when I came back to nyc I went to sound factory, ark, vinyl, twilo just hearing the music caught me and I straight turned into a candy raver/psy trance dj when my friend kenny influence me to start djing and he goes by dj spekuless but what can I say....one state under trance above techno. Let the music play on has the beat move with my heart of the music
