awesome track, great melody!

keep at it!

lovely introduction arrangement and mix. im loving the rolling bassdrum.

bass arrives - still great mixing. the reverbed snare is nice, but it takes away the groove you created with your good perc choice.

synths come in nice. im not very keen on the sawish synthy trumpet. it sounds weak. piano is nice.

i think the melody has been used well. i love that melody from the film. but you have modifed it for the worse imo.

overall the production is clean and very warm.

good job

thanks for the feedback, peter and richard...

@ richard: what do you mean with

?

you mean the melody is different to the one in the film or it has been a "mistake" to remix it?

hmm, this melody sounds familiar, what's the original again? Quite a famous pop song if I'm not mistaken. Didn't know it was the theme for the movie The Beach (also without vocals).

anyway, great work, I think it sounds perfect, everything well balanced out & great build-up, like a smooth flow. I love your work man, nice to hear you're still around. I'm still enjoying In her eyes btw =)

All round production is pretty good. Lots of really good atmospheric sounds and processing in there.

Would agree with righ on the synthy saw trumpet thing.

Unfortunately I didn't much like the piano or setting of the melody which is a shame because the bouncy synth that we hear in isolation early on and towards the end is really cool.

Otherwise, pro sounding production.
Cheers

Long time :]

Nice kick going on there, nice deep bass.

I think the piano is a little too bright for the overall feel of the track, but otherwise nice and clean production.

thanks a lot for the feedback, guys!
maybe i'll rework it a bit after my exams...but atm i haven't got that much time...

@gladius: nice to hear about "in her eyes"!

@sucktle: yeah, stian, defo long time no talk...

Hey Klang
Nice and clean everything, though I do prefer the original. Your version sounds very very warm, like furr for my inner ears :-D Nice!

Posted by Klangzentrum on Jan-29-2008 08:14:

thx vennes!

better to have fur in your ears than on your tongue or teeth!

nice to hear that you like it...

hi boss. i mean the change of melody. definately not a mistake to make the rmx. you put that melody back in my head and now it wont leave. i literally have it in my head at least twice a day.

its not like the melody you made is bad. it just battles with my memory of the original melody a bit.

you could be right, because i haven't heard the original for quite a long time and made this out of a midi i have got on my hdd for ages...
i'll have a closer listen on that issue, if i rework it...

I actually think the piano is OK really, it might just be my speakers. I think the production overall is quite good. I'm not familiar with the original really, so wihout comparing: I really like the percussion , its panned out really well. I thought the track was just boring until 3:30, when the drums come back in, I think you might want some more bass or strings in that breakdown just before to play a harmony and add interest, otherwise its just a bit bland. The lead sound doesn't really do anything for me, but it doesn't detract much either, so its ok.I think you could use another element to add more melody or something, but otherwise its quite good. .

thx for the feedback!

Hi mate, going to listen to your production.

Nice start, good kick and subtle percussion. I dig that!

Summer feeling comes up, lead coming up. Feel that it's a bit low in the mix, volume wise. Just a bit.

!that melody! i have a Trance energy set of Dumonde i think 2002 and that melody is played in one the songs there as well..
I think the melody is correct but i am not a midi expert.

Mixing wise i think the harmonics should be more prominent in the mix, when i put it very loud, the kick/bass dominate to much.

I guess it's a theme of a movie? i have no idea where this melody comes from

As for the song, i think more details should be put in. It's hard but slow music needs stuff to keep people listening.

Thats about it

thx for your feedback, mate! let's see what can be realized from your suggestions in the rework... (10 days to go until my last exam )

you're right it's the movie score from 'the beach', that's why i called it like that in the subtitle!

The Pads are beautiful in this track, and the piano sounds great.

Great Job!
