Plan B is emergency contraception. Emergency contraception is a backup method for preventing pregnancy and is not for routine use. Plan B can reduce your chance of pregnancy after unprotected sex. For example, if you were using a condom and it broke, if you forgot to take 2 or more of your birth control pills this month, or if you were sexually assaulted, Plan B may be a good option for you. It is important to know that Plan B is not RU-486 (the abortion pill). Because Plan B is used to prevent pregnancy, it will not work if you are already pregnant, and it will not affect an existing pregnancy. Plan B is now available without a prescription for consumers age 18 or older, but a prescription is needed for women 17 and younger. But remember, Plan B is more effective the sooner you take it and you should take it within 3 days (72 hours) after unprotected sex. If you live in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Maine, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts or Washington, you can get Plan B without a prescription at some pharmacies; however, you should call your pharmacy in advance to make sure they offer and stock Plan B. |
Very good... it still should not be 18 or older seeing that the older you get the better decisions you make.
I used to skate their decks

Let's move forward to: Plan D
There shouldn't be an age restriction on this. A 17 or 16 year old kid is not going to be brave/smart enough to make a doctors appt. and get this prescribed to them within the needed time frame. We're practically encouraging kids to get pregnant.
so u're saying a 13 year old should buy it at a gas station?

| Originally posted by Ygrene Well then, that's the real problem. If they're 17 and under and they're having unprotected sex, they're dumb. If they're 17 and under and they're raped, they NEED to see a doctor, not just to determine if they're pregnant but, also to get help dealing with a traumatic experience. I imagine the 17 and under policy is to combat those situations and to help educate kids about sex. As far as 17 and under and having protected sex but still having an accident. I would imagine the idea again is to make sure these kids are making smart choices. I can't decide if I agree with that or not. We'll have to wait until I have kids to see. |
