Here's a bit of fun...

I loaded all my live set and album mp3s on to my hard disc and then loaded the whole lot into winamp. You get a total play time at the bottom of the play list window, in hours. My lot came to 3 weeks, 4 days, 10 hours 24 mins, give of take a few seconds.

OK so I was bored...

I have 120gByte of live set/album mp3s on my PC with a further 150 x 650mb CD's packed with mp3s (avg 6 sets per CD).

I also have 32gB of mp3 singles on hard disc + loads of mp3 single CDs, these are not included in the total play time.

I have been collecting for 4 years...

My Win2K server is pretty well load to full. But I also have backups on DLT. I bring a poratble DLT drive home from work and back the lot up 80gB per tape.

Is DLT tape affordable to the average comsumer? How about DDS/4mm DAT (is this similar to DLT?)?

Posted by stella on May-05-2002 14:08:

Dunno what the prices are like in the US but they are very expensive over here. About 1000 for an internal drive and 40 per tape. That's for DLT IV. Prices should start to drop because LTO is becoming more mainstream.

I have a DAT drive at home on my server but I only get 4gB per tape.

BTW, did you manage to DL my set?
