Scientology And Me by BBCs 'Panorama'

PART 1

PART 2

PART 3

I think that Tommy guy is more of a douche than Tom Cruise and seriously makes me angry. Discuss, as I think it's a good documentary. I'm not surprised the reporter lost his cool either.

That reporter shouldn't have lost his cool.

But those hardcore scientologists are some creepy mofos. I would NEVER EVER think of being a scientologist. It's been widely reported that L Hubbard said, "The best way to make money is to start a religion."

Ya i saw it on BBC long time back.. too bad 'Panorama' ended.. it was nice documentaries.. all of them are worth watching..

This one is cold and sometime funny.. but some of 'Panorama' episodes are really very touching.. like one they did on how people in EU were fighting/protesting for people in Africa in cold winter rain.. it was the best.. changed my perspective of western world and its youth.

Both Panorama and CNN Perspectives are really good documentaries.. too bad they dont make them anymore and air stupid, silly, easy on budget, less work, unintelligent, lazy talkshows like 'dateline london' and 'hardtalk'.

saw this on aussie tv a while back, on probably the worst "current affair" show australia has to offer.

yeah, he shouldnt have lost his cool but you can hardly blame him. it's like me arguing with those 9/11 conspiracy morons. polite debate really doesn't get you anywhere.

I watched this a while ago too.

There's only one thing you have to realize about Scientology for it to become painfully obvious what a sham it is.

The more money you give, the further you progress in the "rank system" of the faith, and that's written in their rules.

You can go on and on about how the case may be similar in other religions, but the truth is in other religions some of the greatest leaders have been the poorest, whereas in the actual rules of Scientology, to become "more informed" one must donate hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Laugh. And they cry when their religion is called a cult, good on Britain and Germany for denying these weirdos the right to call themselves a religion there.

Ah right. It's always been on BBC 1, they must just have shown the repeats on their international channels too

Anyway, try this, you can watch the latest programme (but might be only available if you're in the UK, worth a try tho!)

My net is not that fast.. I already knew about the link.. its sad they moved it out from international channel. And they show that utterly stupid 'Dateline London' on international channel instead, which has nothing worthy of global viewing. Most of the time they discuss local issues on show; which is not even known to people outside UK nor do they care about.

There is a certain amount of irony in countries where Catholicism is predominant, who have banned Scientology.

The Catholic Church's illustrious history of repression and fear is hardly different than anything Scientology is supposedly up to these days, according to this program.

Not to mention; How does one argue about gods, deities or omnipotent powers that neither one can prove exist?

One guy says; "Well, everyone knows that Mary had an immaculate conception, and then Jesus was born, and then when he was killed, he came back to life again"...

Then the other guy says; "That's ABSURD! Impossible! Fairy-tales! Everyone knows that our souls have been stolen by an Alien! We're trying to enlighten you people, but you just won't listen!"

I don't know which religion sounds like the bigger bunch of ASSES frankly, lol.

Yea but Scientology is full of rich celebreties (and most likely celebrety wannabes), which is one reason to dislike it. And yea you have a very valid point, in my opinion, all religions have dumb stories that go along with the point they're trying to make (kinda like when they couldn't think of a persuasive argument to use to back up their theories they decided to throw in a story about a man living in a whale because at the time people were into that kinda shit). But where Scientology differs from mainstream religion is that it costs. It's effectively a pyramid scheme that extorts money out of people. If you want to be religious you should be able to go to your book store, find your chosen holy text and be whatever religion from there. You should also be able to attend holy churches and practice your religion free of charge (unless you're a member of one of the more, shall we say, extreme Mosques in which case you will be expected to make a small contribution to the quest to re-establish the Caliphate across all Muslims lands - but that's by the by)

So altho on the crazy side you can say Scientology is just another religion but the way it charges membership fees certainly isn't religious and should bar it from ever being recognised as such by those countries that don't

????????????

Whaaaaaaaaatttttttttt?

Looks like a "troofer" was texting from his phone when he got confused and put his propaganda in the wrong thread..........

........or...................

.................OMG!

Maybe "they" switched it while en-route, so that it would pop up in the wrong thread! Thus another attempt to get the truth out is foiled......

................do you ever get the feeling you're being watched ALL THE TIME?

Yep. While religion is also debatable and it is a good point, religion is free. Most religions don't force you to pay nor do they threaten you (yea yea I know, doesn't always apply ). The point is that Scientology is not a religion. It is a cult and a pyramid scheme and any Scientologist that comes up to me and demands that I stop calling it a cult will result in me running around them in circles singing "cult cult cult" and so on.
