Moving to Atlanta
Im in the process of moving to ALT and was wondering if anyone can suggest any good electronic nightclubs in the area?
I'm partial to Lava, and I know I'll be @ WetBar in a few months time...
When are you moving down?
The big ones i think are Opera & Wetbar.... you have your pick. There are also a bunch of small venues scattered around Atlanta.
There aren't any.
However, we get really good talent at a few spots pretty frequently such as Opera (formerly eleven50, which we all miss greatly), WETBar (if you can handle the gay scene), and The Mark once in a blue moon. Cosmo-Lava has good nights, but if I recall, everywhere else has gone down the shitter.
However, I can name you countless Gucci-wannabe hip hop clubs that all look the same, play the same music, and attract the same crowd on any given night. =P
Oh, and I've been told that Pure is actually alright, but I somehow doubt this if Mike B is the current resident Sat night DJ.
thanks i really appreciate it! I plan to visit and establish getting an apartment here in a few weeks and by May I should be completely moved over. Where I live, I have to drive 4 hours to get to a city that has a decent club. I saw that Max Graham was coming...anyone know the true date? I see on his MSpage its the 8th, but on WantTickets his flier says the week after. Is that venue pretty cool? I dont mind the gay scene, as long as they have groovin tunes then im down to party
I haven't been disappointed in any of the Wetbar parties. It's kinda small. Well, the dance floor is, but there is an outside, a lounge area with bar stools, couches, etc... and an upstairs bar/balcony. Therefore my only complaint is the lack of space on the dance floor.
Will you be living in town or in the metro area?
WetBar is the biggest club in Atlanta... at least that I've been to
And yeah, just follow the bookings. There are plenty of tight venues down here, especially small ones.

I have a few friends in that area, one that lived in a pretty decent apartment. I can't recall the name, but I'll ask. She got a good deal. We also have this service called Promove that'll find an apartment in your desired area and price range for free. Only draw back is they call and bug you a few times, wanting you to refer friends.
Max Graham is supposed to be confirmed for the 15th at the masquerade.
Hope your job has you in Roswell/Alpharetta! They are nice areas but the worst traffic in Atlanta, and at least 30 minutes from the clubs with out traffic but at night you should not have a problem with traffic only commuting to work. Oh and a lot of cops to pull you over so clubbing, you have to be careful and a taxi is not cheap from out there.
I second the promove thing. I used it a while back and they found an apartment that I didn't know about. So it was worth the time. But if you can, look inside the perimeter and drive out to Roswell/Alpharetta, don't go further outside the city then your job! Just a little advice on the traffic I am sure anyone who knows the 400 corridor can tell you it sucks. Also I would get a short lease at first until you know the area. Personally I would move back to Vinings in a second. Quick drive into the city and plenty of other roads to take if 75 is jammed up. But no quick route to Roswell/Alph
Good luck!
BTW this is advice from some one who is living further out side the city then Roswell, maybe not Alpharetta though but I have worked in Alpharetta so I know the traffic there well enough to know all the surface street ways around the gridlock. Currently residing in Suwanee, working in Buford
Live near Lennox Park. Split the difference for both work or play, and it's a nice area. I use to live at Windsor @ Lennox Park. They were really nice apartments and my drive to Norcross or Alpharetta (depending on which location I needed to work at that day) wasn't too bad.
thank everyone for all the great info. As you can tell, im stoked to be moving into the area, but its so hard depending on sales pitches from the internet when looking for a place to live. Has anyone heard of Alta Woods in Woodstock? My job is in Roswell on Woodstock Rd and I hoping since the is apt is so close I wont have traffic issues. Here in my current location, you can get from one end of the city to the other in 20 minutes. And that is basically the same story DURING rush hour (its sad, but convenient)

yes, stay the F out of Woodstock. There is no easy access to the interstates and 575 is almost as bad for traffic as the top side perimeter! I repeat, live closer in to the perimeter if you can, and get a short lease because no matter what you will find something better once you move here. Only issue with living in Lenox area is that you will be paying the toll every day so add $60 to your rent. But if you live just outside the toll then you'll use the toll road like 10% of the time tops I would guess. Sandy Springs is a where I would move if I was working where your talking about unless you can find a place right next to your work, like in the Down Town Roswell area. There is some nice places and some sketch but hey where isn't there pockets of sketch in this city?
oh yeah, stay the F out of Woodstock, it sucks!

i don't live there anymore but i lived all over the atlanta area for 26 years and still my favorite place i have lived was the virgina highlands!!!! check it out. in town, sorta, close to piedmont park, lots of local bars in walking distance, great resturants, cool shops and close to the clubs in midtown. apartments and condos tend to be older in certain areas but they have that larger, hardwood, high ceilings kinda feel.
i lived a block behind the dark horse, a bar/resturant there and i completely loved it!!!! if i move back to atlanta that is where i will go back to! anyways, worth checking it out
That place is gorgeous Gypsy!
