Is Tiesto worth it

So I know everyone's opinion of Tiesto on TA - and that's not the question.

There's a huge rumour he may play at a city in India (Hyderabad) on the 16th Feb. For those who've never heard him play(I have at Dance Valley 6 years ago - and quite enjoyed the experience), do you think it's worth travelling across cities (bus/train/planes) to see him; and also fork out about US$ 50 for a ticket?

There's not a whole bunch of "international" talent that comes thru India, so clubbers try and make the most of what they get.

So is Tijs worth the effort + the expense?

For people in India yes, but since you seem to be well travelled and would be critical of the gigs that Tiesto dishes out nowadays, no.

Unless you want to hear supposed 'minimal', 5 tracks from Elements of Life and a 2008 remake of Silence that is.

If you mean 5 tracks "alternative", 20 artist tracks, and STILL the 2000 version of Delerium. Then about right.

I thought that the team who were advertising this gig back in early-December are now telling people it won't go ahead?

At least, tiesto's official schedule has only a trip to Dubai in that weekend.

no one should ever pay more than 20 dollars to watch a dude play records

especially if they're shitty records

i saw tiesto at ultra music festival in miami back in 2005 for the hell of it, because I paid for the entire event, not just one pompous ass

No.

He charges closer to 100.00 when he comes down here now.

Do not waste your time / money.

you wouldn't think

i'd imagine if it was his first time in a country/city with a relatively obscure EDM scene then he'll probably play a lowest common denominator crowdpleaser set with all the obvious/overplayed tunes, so i probably wouldn't bother shelling out

Posted by bas on Jan-24-2008 23:21:

If I were to pay $50 on top of traveling across various cities by bus/trains or whatever. It better damn well be someone better than Tiesto. And for more than one night.

Posted by Sykonee on Jan-24-2008 23:39:

He played in town here for -all expenses included- probably less than what you'd have to pay. Still couldn't be bothered.

On the other hand, a bunch of us were seriously considering pooling our money together to send Ishkur to that concert as a bachelor party present.

Tiesto is better than Armin, Menno, or PVD. If you don't like good music then don't go hear tiesto.

sigh. there are some of us left who aren't retards. honest

Honestly I enjoy quite a bit of what tiesto's been playing lately on his radio show and ISOS 6. I saw him live at a massive back in july and enjoyed myself alot, as did all of my friends. What made it good was that he didn't hammer too many of his own productions. Unfortunately, you might get him on a night where hes just spinning his own stuff, so you can't know for sure. However, since it seems to be a big/infrequent event, the vibe might be good enough to make up for it.

Uhh...well those are all terrible examples of what I consider "good music". My point was that if I was going to go through all that trouble, it had better be worth it. And one DJ (regardless of who) isn't going to cut it.

But I guess given his situation, not being able to see bigger djs too often, I might take it up for a select few.

Anyone who pays this sort of money to see a DJ is a fucking MUG.

Posted by DJ Mikey Mike on Jan-25-2008 00:20:

And if that DJ happens to be as useless as a Scotsman taking a maths test then there are no words for what you are. A cunt perhaps?

hate can blind you from seeing or hearing the truth.

Posted by Elec on Jan-25-2008 01:01:

I would say not worth it. It would be if there were many DJs and it was a large scale/budget event. Otherwise you will just hear a bunch of tracks youve already probably heard too many times, except this time they'll be in a random incoherent order. You will likely be disappointed in the end.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jan-25-2008 03:59:

I wouldn't really pay that much to see any DJ.

Posted by Hardtrance4life on Jan-25-2008 04:41:

You heard him once already... i mean, sure, this post is coming from a not so much tiesto fan but i don't think its worth it... give it some time.

Posted by rewind_plz on Jan-25-2008 07:58:

You live in India, not many big DJs go there.. to see him live next you will proly have to fly to Europe... so if he is there go see him.. just for fuc's sake.. so you can write to your pen pals about it that omg you have seen Tiesto live!

Correction: His promoter charges you 100.00 when he books Tiesto, cos he knows he can get away with it.

I wouldn't pay 60 USD to see Tiesto these days. Only if it was a club gig, without all the fanfare would that be worth even half the entrance.

What a question. When you like his sound, his ISOS-CDs and albums, then take a chance to see Tiesto, otherwise no.

it depends if going with a girl or not and you'r chances in love.
