DJ Mixer???????(FOR PC)
Hi Gang!
i recent got the program Traktor
and uploaded a whole bunch of songs and like the mouse
on my computer for turning the nobs on the program
and trying to mix one song from another is kind of a pain
soo....... im looking on ebay to buy a mixer and maybe a headset(headphones) so i need some advice and your input before i buy
cause knowing me ill buy a cheapy one or will end up buying another cheap tiny little mixer i bought at toys r us thinking i could work with it and i threw it away it was so stupid lol
so yeah if you can help me out ... i dont know too much about Dj(ing) but its a start and i can kind of learn a little when im at home and not @ 1015. haha
thanks...
oh and im on a tight budget cause of economy so nothing too fancy either lol
thankx
You'd be looking for more of a USB or MIDI controller, not necessarily a mixer
I always thought Traktor came with everything you needed to play right out of the box. Isn't their controller called Torque or something like that

DJ Mixers for CPU
First post on Tranceaddict!
You may want to consider using something like the X-Session Pro from M-Audio for $99. A simple, DJ style MIDI controller that can be used with Traktor if you know how to assign MIDI values. It also comes with Torq LE so you can have at least a program to mix with while you set up your Traktor enviroment.
Or if you want some more hands on control, go up to the Xponent. Again, full MIDI capabilities so it can be used with Traktor. A lil' more expensive, but a lot more buttons and knobs for sound manipulation & control. I've used this along with one of my producer friends at a couple of parties and it's one hell of a device! We used it with the Torq software that comes with it, and even had it set up with Traktor on a 7 year old PC laptop.
Hope that helps.
i've dabbled with it all on the cheap since it's never been my top hobby and so i've never dropped serious money.
but i would start with the same ol' question... what is your budget? whatever it is, add $150 and start there.
but at one point i've done traktor + m-audio external fast track pro sound card $150 + cheap $80 mixer
also the more you spend the first time around, the more likely that component can be re-used in a future set-up. and you'll quickly realize the limitations of cheap hardware.
nothing to do with your questions... but I insist you change your avatar to this....I have always loved this image, and I thought it would be great for you

about my avatar i cant see the picture from work
ill check it out when i get home
im a big dbz fan
btw..
& thank you all for the dj midi/mixer/ info
i might as well invest a little over 200 just to make sure everything is ok for a start
and i dont feel bad not knowing too much about dj(ing)
at least i know more than one of my friends who
said he'd sell me some spinning tables... i was like WTF is that???
he ment turntables haha
You can use either a DJ Mixer or a Midi Controller with Traktor. It's your choice. They both work perfect.

M-Audio UC-33 $129 @ JRR Shop
That's what I got, and where I got it. I use it for Ableton, but should work fine with Traktor.
doesnt it need like a cross fader or something like that????

i'm selling my Ecler Nuo4 (made in Spain). well maintained and high quality. don't need it since i just bought my new toy
read the review - http://remixmag.com/mag/remix_ecler_nuo

i got a djm 500 for sale. Im asking 250 plus shipping. One channel out of the four is a lil jacked up, but it would be a good start up mixer for you.
Hey Blurr- im saving up for a new mixer and im going to hit u up for those x-zone mixers when i get close to having enough money. I already booked a penthouse with some friends for WMC. For all that money i could get me a new mixer and still have extra cash.I got to get my priorities straight.dammit.

torq xponent is actually my toy right now... once again, this is not a top "hobby" full time for me, but its more than enough for me to get my kicks. the xponent is awesome all around fun! but i wouldn't take it to a club... a bar, maybe. and if you plan on growing i wouldn't use it for more than the first year (actually, i think you can get away with some genres on it actually)
