Steve Angello's Antipiracy Statement

quote:

"HI Guys ! i have been really pissed off the last couple of days !!!!!
i fucking hate people putting our music for download on there bloggs and so on !
we work our asses off in the studio to make atrack , we put money into remixes , artwork , marketing , webbased promotion , promotional downloading systems and so on , to get everything right ! and then what happends ??? well some kid gets ahold of thetrack , dont ask me how , and gives it away for free ?!?!?!?!?
honestly what the fuck is wrong with people ?
one thing they dont understand is that if we cant sell our music and break even we wont put out more music , and producers will stop producing music cause they cant live a life where everything is free !! young producers stop making music cause they cant pay there bills , eat food or things like that !
why the fuck do people want to ruin another persons carrer ???
why cant people just go to itunes , beatport m juno , djdownload or any other mp3 store and just buy a track ? its one dollar !!!!! if it continues like this i wont make any more tracks and i wont release music on SIZE , ill stop it unless people start respecting other peoples businesses ..... i feel bad for all those young new label owners that are struggling everyday to pay there bills , and all those young producers who wont get payed for remixes cause labels dont make money !
dont you get it . when you share music you will get one less producer each day !
if you continue like this people will stop doing records and stop releasing on there labels ! cause its to expensive to run a label for free !!!

f**king assholes !

Steve Angello"

fans of house music dont seem to want to pay for anything. they want the music for free and then when the parties roll around they wanna get comped too. they dont show any real love besides self proclomations on message boards. even worse, the djs dont want to pay for shit either. they just steal all the music off soulseek and go out into the clubs with it. its such a joke when you see these nothing djs playing up front music that you know they cant legitimately acquire.

what a douche!

He needs to learn how to spell and take a few grammar lessons.

Each time he used "there" and really meant "their", I felt like throat punching him.

Fucking Asshole!

why are you singling out the fans of house music? fans of any music dont want to pay. even many movie fans download movies illegally or buy them illegally. same goes for computer software.

I fully understand how it's unfair that file sharing technology has pillaged the music industry. I agree about small labels, emerging artists, etc etc. Very unfair. Do I think a rant on your private blog will solve anything? Not really. lol

A big problem with the DJ scenario, is that I'm well prepared to pay for my music. But 90% of the time it's not released yet lol So I'm not going to hold back playing a song because I can't pay for it somewhere. How can a DJ be upfront? Do I go back and buy a track that I had as a promo? Sometimes. But I'd rather buy said artists new tracks.

It's a give/take relationship imo.

Posted by darouge11 on Jan-27-2008 21:49:

lol hes probably making more money doing gigs then making tracks.....and whats with the threatening, that he'll stop making music??? lol whata cry baby, its not like hes the only one whos tracks are being taken... and i think hes talking about body crash (dirty south mix)

i seen it floating aorund already

tough luck man. play what youve got access to. the thing about the up front shit is that thats exactly what it is. given out upfront by labels and artists to djs to test the tracks. obviously they leak. but if a dj wants to maintain true credibility hes got stay away from the temptation of those leaked tracks. you could find yourself ruined if the wrong person hears you playing a track that you obviously shouldnt have your hands on.

alrigh fine then. fans of house music are just especially hypocritical. your friends of top 40 probably arent on message boards or out in clubs declaring their love for a culture that they do nothing but take from.
