drama READ

My mom is pissed off because I'm ready to move out. Her and her boyfriend are yellin pissed off at me right now as I type right now. They are pissed because my mom is unemployed, both living off disability checks from the government, and I help out with $400 a month with bills and food, etc. Well, I've got a nice crib to move into which is only 5 miles from work (instead of 20), I can ride the bus (instead of drive), I can ride a bike anywhere I need. I can afford it. Everything's right, it's that right time..

Need your input, what should I do?

Move out. She should be more responsible than you. If you stay she'll never get a job.

If you can afford to live on your own while supporting your mom, then go for it

Back to the story...

I loaned out about $330 in gold (35% of oz.) so we could prevent the storage company from selling our stored furniture, and now I'm questioning whether I'm going to get my $330 back. To me, it's all preventable, unneeded BS. So naturally, I just want to get away from it right?

That's what I think the condition of me moving out might have to be. 5 months of unemployment is a killer. And job searching isn't easier nowadays either.

yeah, but at some stage you have to cut her off. arent you one of those libertarian types that believe in economic tough love?

No shit, the plot thickens.

Your mother is a grown adult. I would assume her boyfriend is too. They shouldn't be relying on you to support them.

Now it would be nice of you to give them some notice before you leave, just so they can adjust their lifestyles to accommodate for you not being a contributing member to the family.

However, you shouldn't feel guilty or bad for moving out.

Posted by Krypton on Jan-29-2008 05:53:

Oh, I wouldn't be moving for at least 2 or 3 months, maybe longer. But I'm friggin 20, it's about time I get my own place ay?

Then what the fuck?

They shouldn't be upset at all. You're being more than reasonable with the amount of notice you're giving them. If they can't be happy for you, and proud that you are taking a step toward leading an adult life, they can piss off.

I'm sure yelling at you was really going to make you change your mind.

Fuck that.
