I guess my thread sucked. Haha!

Anyway....

He must like sitting at home and watching the play offs...

If I were a betting man and I had to bet on either the Yankees or Mets making the playoffs in 2008, I'd have to go with the Mets.

mets and santana need to agree on extension

highly unlikely, but still

the twins really dropped the ball with this one. they had so much more with the yankees offer of cabrera, hughes, and a third prospect. good for the mets, the only real cost was gomez.

Guerra's gonna be the best player in the deal. Book that.

As for the Yankees offer... If I were the Twins, I would've traded Santana straight up for Hughes. To get Tabata and Cabrera on top of that? Crazy. I don't see how they couldn't have taken that deal right on the spot.

Oh well, I ain't complaining.

The only saving grace for Minnesota fans in general is that their best player didn't actually go to Boston for once

Posted by chanman7483 on Jan-30-2008 03:14:

As a Yankee fan, A) We didn't get raped and give up Hughes, Melky and Kennedy and B) he's not on Boston... so it's all good in the hood peeps.

Although... MEts fans will be intolerable this year... even moreso

No sour grapes here dude. True, I would've loved that the Yanks landed Santana, but not for the asking price of the Twins... which was a kings ransom (3 mid to high level major league ready youngers). Are the Mets prospects highly rated? Sure. Will they pan out for the Twins? Who knows... and it'll be years before we do know. That's my point - Boston and the Yanks' offer dwarfed the Mets. Oh well.

And please... what is this about intolerable Yankee fans? You'll never hear a peep from me about anything that happens during the season regarding the Mets... b/c mainly I could care less(although that could change w/ Santana around) but many Mets fans I know are all over our Jock ... all the time.

Anyway, 25 mil per season should get the job done... I don't see Minaya getting stingy at this point. He can't.

Posted by trunks1022 on Jan-30-2008 03:56:

and there're also yankee fans who berate the mets to know end. let's agree to disagree. could care less what the yankees do for the simple reason they're not in the NL east.

Agreed

this is like getting 2 for 1 from the twins b/c Oliver Perez has the stuff to be untouchable. If he can learn some things from Santana, as a fellow lefty, the Mets will be set.

They didnt trade him to an AL team cuz they dont want to have to face him during the season or playoffs, just the world series (if they can even get there).

No, they didn't trade him to an AL team because the Yankees and Red Sox both took their offers off the table by the time they were ready to deal him, leaving, in essence, only the Mets as a team Santana would go to.
