Ticon - 2am [Digital Structures]

Many of you will know one of the tunes from here, which was made available for free at xmas as a present from the guys.

Swedish act Ticon, are one of the precious few to have made a credible transition from studio-bound producers into the top tier of live dance acts. Their live sets have been major highlights at clubs and festivals for more than 8 years now and there is no stopping their growing poularity.

With a career starting back in 1995 as bedroom producers, they found their home at the dawn of the millennium with the Swedish label Digital Structures, a synergy which has lasted ever since and has cemented their reputation among party goers and dueful respect among their peers.

Their discography most importantly list their 3 previous albums; Rewind in 2001, Aero in 2003 and the hugely successful Zero Six After in 2005, that with its melange of trance, house and electro captured the zeitgeist perfectly. It picked up on the energy of that years musical high lights and infused it with playful humour, boundless
enthusiasm, and ridiculously lovable hooks. The cross bred music did it works in establishing Ticon to an even wider audience than before and the number of A list djs whos played their music in their sets wouldnt even come close to fit this page!!

2 AM promises to again draw on influences from a diverse range of genres and musical territories, before mashing them together in a sonic blender and dishing them out to hungry dancefloor punters. Expect tight production, expect cheeky samples, expect quality party music deeply infused with fun and a sense of humour ... music that can onlycome from Ticon.

samples sound good! especially models on cocaine, exactly the kind of sound im digging at the mo.

do you know if this will be coming out on digital any time soon or is it cd only?

Posted by Ian on Jan-29-2008 23:08:

hmm didn't I put this in the new releases section? can someone (montana greg or neo) move it there please

djdk- I'm not sure about digital format sorry.

Really banging stuff, this is gonna do some serious damage imo, can't really pick at fav tune out of the bunch but the mnml influenced tunes such as spitfire are great!

Thumbs up for Ticon, good start of 2008 !

have some badass catching up to do on beatport, new tegma album sounds freakin' awesome too

Yet another decent production duo who have largely decided to jump on the electro bandwagon.

What encourages artists to make electro? Beats me.

1987 is the only good track on here, the rest is lousy. Lets have the Ticon back that made gorgeous tracks like In The Dirt.

These guys were much more appealing to me back in the days.
Not saying they are bad now, just my own taste that is different to this new style of theirs.
Their previous album is more in line with me, but still, nothing beats Rewind...

Thumbs up

Intersting;

I really enjoyed "Zero After Six" and definitely want to hear more. Hope album packs heat.

for you to say that & then pick out one track from this album then i'm surprised it was 1987 & not 'less is more', that one seemed to sound most like the old ticon to me. from the sample at least

whilst part of me agrees with you i think the 'electro' stuff coming out of the progpsy scene sounds alot nicer than the usual rougher/techier variety you hear from house djs, i don't mind most of it

That's what i was thinking too. Less Is More is definitely the most trancy track on the album and it's really a nice one if you ask me. Less Is More and 1987 are good, the rest of the album i will probably not listen to a second time.

agreed, I really like Less is More

Would like to have the Ticon of old but i'm really enjoying these tracks as well.

Hi All !

The legendary duo, Fredrik Gilemholt & Filip Mardberg, is coming out with brand new album, called - 2AM. Ticon are proves the advancement of their music and the new album is contain fresh style packed with Electro-House moments. If you want to enjoy it, just listen the music and forget about Ticon's old music, because this is the upgrade of this project.

01. 1987
It's start very melodic and emotionally with long playing of morning vibes. The tempo is still slow, but '1987' track is open the journey on the best way I could ask for - magical introduction. Just flow with the melody and get free smiling fly from Ticon.

02. Zebra beat
The second track is whole Electro. I'm not big fan of this style, but these guys made it sound fine. The track is self is a bit boring if you ask me, except the up's and down's (like the brake on 03:35), which still give the listener a good reason why not pass to the next track.

03. Models on cocaine
Please say hello to the hit of the album. I think this track will be a dance floor refresher for long time. After almost two minutes of vocalist intro, came in the jumpy electro bass and let the all asses do the work . This is what I called enjoyable music.

04. Weekeend warriors
I hope you are ready to go on, because we are going down to the Minimal's zone. Ticon is a variable project and still keep the high level of production. The Minimal style fans have a serious gift here.

05. Spitfire
We are still in the Minimal area but this time the Electro is gets in also. These guys simply come to show us how to create a pure electronic music professionally. For maximal experience, you should follow the beats and check the your body responses. The brake on the middle of the track is jumping and super danceable. Way to go guys !

06. In the box
'In the box' track has a spark of imagination to Ticon's older material. Finally, after five tracks, we can hear some progressive kicks and it's feels great. Michele Adamson is responsible for the vocals in this track. They combine the old proggy style with the new electro style and the result is impressive.

07. We're shining
Now is the time to leave everything and run to the middle of the dance floor - electro madness. The vibe in this track is amazing. All the necessary elements are inside - groove, guitars, vocals (by Filip his self) and lovely atmosphere. If you were a bit tired until now, this track will wake you up big time.

08. 2 am
The title track is surely one of my favorites here. Despite the fact it's seven minutes length, the feeling is much more. I don't know what is their secret component, but they hypnotized me to this music. Forget the all definitions, this is MUSIC.

09. Less is more
I expected to a chill track, but Filip & Fredrik think just the opposite - they raise the tempo and add soft melodies to end this trip with sweet taste. Thank you guys.

good stuff

The only one track I enjoy on this album is 1987, it's just gorgeous! The other stuff is very boring to me.

1987 is easily the best tune on it, but if you like that, the new Tegma album has a couple of good tunes on it too

Just listened to Lo-Fi Adventures, that's surely not my cup of tea, too much influenced by electro.

Lo Fi Adventures is a terrible intro to Tegma

Listen to Around The World in 80 Minutes instead

Really like Models on Cocaine.

Out on BP now - only the last track is replaced. Instead of 'Less Is More', 'The High Jacker' is on there - and I'm rather sure I'd have preferred 'Less Is More'.

**Less Is More appears to be on a compilation that was released on BP though.
