Stupid adjectives in music genres. (rantrantrant)

Time for another abomination. Wtf is up with using adjectives ambiguously and unnecessarily (Looks to the promo whore threads) when describing genres..
Here's a thread where we can hold hands, hold our (large) noses up, and laugh..

The most common one heard would be "Dirty House" (House.. the greatest sinners of all). Is it referring to unshowered and filthy patrons, or your typical shitty distorted sound system that makes everything sound "dirty" (yes yes yes, I am intentionally mistakenly taking it literally), or is it supposed to (ding ding ding!) delude patrons into thinking the venue will be an Aguilera music video? *hooray for unclassy skanks & brothers O_o*
and wtf is "sexy vocal house"? 1900 ads sampled?

You don't have to look very far in these boards either to take your pick of pretentious genre titles.. Like there isn't enough mutations of music as it is these days.. Chunky deep tech prog house/trance anyone?

Ofcourse, even newer is not even knowing what genre it is and crashing an exotic list of adjectives into the dead step sister of the great grand mother of all music genres, the word "sound". Anyone up for some funky deep smooth minimal progressive tech SOUNDS?

Here's some other words that have been encountered in Indiana Jone's latest blockbuster, 'The Temple of club marketing'.
Mellow
Edgy
Seductive (Oh I can feel my cock rising with excitement just by reading it!)

.. and some to add to the collection; uninspired and full of shit.

Well isn't this a dirty edgy deep thread? harhar

(PS Has anyone got an actual definition for wtf "DEEP prog/tech" is, or is it an attempt to appeal to those of us that are supposedly well cultured, englightened (with our brains and ears at one) and can only listen to music with "depth" on a nonexistant plane? - Nah not really, they don't think that hard..it's all about OMGBASSZLOLZ!)

What's the best you've seen?
(Or alternatively, pull out that thesaurus and flame way at me with the best of the best adjectives that would make the meaningless mmmmmd's, rrrrr's and addggrrrrriannnnnns of Rocky be knocked out!).

Cliff notes (erm, you can't be bothered reading the above, so here's the cut downed version)
1. Wtf is chunky deep mellow seductive assfingering sexy edgy
2. You're now left wondering my god, do I not have anything better to do? (Yet you can't disagree with point 1, and since you're
reading this, you obviously don't either).
3. lolz

stop being such a moody khunt sunshine lol

'deep' is a perfectly good adjective to add to a genre. 'Deep' is generally slower in bmp and quite a lot more subtle in the sounds that it uses, it's groove, or in it's structure (ie. it's not all build-ups and breakdowns). And yes it does generally appeal to those more cultured :P

i fucking hate "pushing boundaries" as if its necessarily a good thing. i bet i could get a bunch of instruments and "push the boundaries" of music, but it will still sound like arse.

chances are if i havent heard of you im not really interested, so it doesnt matter how many superfluous descriptions you give in your bio i still dont give a shit.

You see, I'd rather had a "juicy red apple, freshly picked from the tree" rather than an "apple".

Why is it a problem to use the expanse of the English language, rather than reducing everything to black and white?

he just wants everything to be mnml

Well "juicy red apple, freshly picked from the tree" actually means something...
Read and try again.

im drowning here

Posted by DJ_Ballistic on Jan-31-2008 06:53:

deep house has nothing to do with speed

deep house is the fusion of house music and soul/jazz music, which is what gives it's melodies that added level of complexity

anyone that doesn't know that deserves to die

isn't that 'soulful house'?

aren't you illustrating sunrise's point? haha

Posted by DJ_Ballistic on Jan-31-2008 07:07:

no calling it, soulful jazzy chicago house would be illustrating his point

i don't use chunky dirty phat bass in your face to describe my music, nor do i sit around bitching about people that do, ergo this thread is useless, i was merely educating the boy

he wanted to know what deep was, so i told him, the rest is bs

people are dying in africa

that's because they don't know that "deep house" is the fusion of house and jazz which adds to its melodic complexity.

it's like you can read my mind or something

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Trance Nutter on Jan-31-2008 08:29:

its just people trying to sound important and being elitist by adding random adjectives to differentiate themselves from exactly the same style of music enjoyed by others.
