Stylus RMX with Live 6

Hello,

I've just purchased Stylus RMX and am currently waiting to receive it. In the meantime, I went on ableton forum (I'm a live user) to search for any previous posts about using RMX with live.

I came across one thread basically saying that on a PC, you are only able to automate 5 parameters of RMX in live. And that the 5 parameters aren't very useful for automation anyway so it is difficult to get the most out of RMX if using it with Live.

I have posted on the ableton forum to get more info on this but havent got any responses.

Is there anyone here who uses RMX with Live on a PC who can tell me if these automation limitations are true and if there are any other problems I should be aware of?

Thanks

With Live you can only automate the first 128 parameters that show up in the automation drop down list, so if the paramater u want to automate is no. 129, then ur outta luck

Alternatively you could open Stylus RMX in Energy XT, then u can automate whatever you like.........

Are you saying that in Stylus RMX you have access to first 128 parameters? You have used it yourself?

No I havent used Stylus RMX in Live, im just sayin thats the way VST automation works in Live
I find it strange that guy saying he could only automate 5 params, that cant be right??!!

You could be lucky and find that all the paramaters u need to edit are from 0-127, in that case your fine

For example, i use Predator in Live 6, and if i want to automate "arp length" i cant really, cos it doesnt show up in the drop down list, so i have to use Energy XT and open an instance of Predator inside that instead, its really annoying that Ableton wont fix it, there have been countless requests on their forum......

You can also use clip automation to automate stuff as well, not as easy to set up tho imo...

Thanks for the reply. I'm very familiar with Live and know how the automation works and the limits the automation has in Live.

This is a specific issue with RMX in Live.

Thanks for finding that. It may well come in handy should the limitations be true
