Are you into gear mods / hacking
Heya,
I'm into the whole DIY your own audio gear scene, and I was just curious who else is into this kind of thing here. I mean I think theres a difference between people who go out and build their own gear / midibox whatever and then people who are stuck on software. Its strange but usually the hardware peeps are better electronic musicians in my experience.
i wanna mod my razr into a video camera
I wanna mod my hand into a vagina

I turned my VCR into this!

I learned to fcuk with sh!t since I got Radio Shack's 160-in-one electronics kit, where I learned everything about transistors, capacitors, resisters, etc...
I messed with all my electronics when I was younger.

Yeah those kits where bomb when I was kid to because I made a radio and other shit. Best thing I did was make a lie detector test and used it on my brother when my parents was asking him about how he broke this bicycle and he lied about it and all. I even still have it in storage bin some where and all and was going give to my son when he old enough and all.
Man this give me memory just by looking at it on ebay lol

Memories...

I used to bypass the potentiometer in my cassette decks with a switch I drilled and installed into the chassis, so I can rewind and FF and lightning speed. Took only 15 seconds to rewind a 90min tape. (for you TA ankle-biters, cassettes are what we used to rip music before CDs)
I always had free long distance calls and 1-900 party chat and sex lines when living in an apt. building off-campus. Each building had the main phone line box in the dark garage, where all the phones from the appartments are conected. I had a cordless phone, which I stripped and wired the plug to a 9V battery cap, and split the phone wires to two aligator clips. My 9V alkaline battery was plenty to power the cordless phone's base I hung near the phone box, with the two alligator clips connected to some random appt's phone line.
I went back up to my appartment and made as many calls as I wanted with my cordless handset, without any risk of getting caught. I did score with a girl I met on on a chat line, so I have to say my hack got me laid.

I'm never satisfied with default (when it comes to electronics).
When I used winxp, I couldn't stand using it without litestep + reshacking msgina.dll/shell32.dll/ieframe.dll
I also hacked the s**t out of my motorol razr.
I'm not into hacking/modding hardware (except my car (cold air intakc, etc (NOT cheesy body kits)), just mostly GUI changes.

A friend of mine has one and put a big single turbo in it with around 25lbs of boost and its around 800hp daily driver. Back on topic, yes I have modded just about everything I own that can be modded. Been soldering crap for years. |
