Certainly a long-standing staple of the political debate.

Romney is a fag-got and should burn in hell. I will consider McCain though.

I would have considered McCain 8+ years ago, when he still had some semblance of sanity.

If you would take either of the possible Republican candidates over Hillary you are absolutely insane.

Caught the beginning. Politics dont hold my interest for long at all. I think Obama has a very good presence, better than Hilary. He'd be a good president from an image point of view. I know jackshit about their policies, but when Obama speaks I tend to listen.

I don't lean to the left

Having said that, I don't mind Obama as president at all. I'd like a fresh start in the White House

I'm just saying, if you've watched any of the debates its clear who want's to continue the Bush Jr. era and who doesn't. Romney wants to expand Guantanamo, McCain thinks we can stay in Iraq for 100+ years. Theres just no way around it, every single republican candidate is absolutely fucking terrible.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Feb-01-2008 23:06:

We really ought to stay in Iraq for a hundred more years. Anglophone Empire Part Deux.

Is this the only issue you're basing said opinion on?

Exactly. A few dozen MOABs in Tehran should do the trick. What are they gonna do?

How about we spacelift the US? Literally. That way... I dunno where I'm going with this.

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Feb-01-2008 23:35:

From the LA Time's Endorsement of Obama...

I find this argument to be the most compelling as to why Obama's presidency offers a fresh start.

quote:
An Obama presidency would present, as a distinctly American face, a man of African descent, born in the nation's youngest state, with a childhood spent partly in Asia, among Muslims. No public relations campaign could do more than Obama's mere presence in the White House to defuse anti-American passion around the world, nor could any political experience surpass Obama's life story in preparing a president to understand the American character. His candidacy offers Democrats the best hope of leading America into the future, and gives Californians the opportunity to cast their most exciting and consequential ballot in a generation.

In the language of metaphor, Clinton is an essay, solid and reasoned; Obama is a poem, lyric and filled with possibility. Clinton would be a valuable and competent executive, but Obama matches her in substance and adds something that the nation has been missing far too long -- a sense of aspiration.

What else do you wanna base it on? Go ahead, I'm ready.

That was just a question with no follow-up, on my end. Simply curious.
