Cancun, Mexico

Hey Everyone!

I'll be going to Cancun with my 2 best friends next Wednesday for 7 days and I was wondering if any of you guys have been there before. If so, what are some nice clubs (possibly that only play EDM haha) Also, what else would you suggest I should take part in. I definetly plan on going to see the Mayan Ruins and I heard about this amazing water falls that you can jump off into a gorge.

I will be staying at Barcelo Tucancun, its a 4 star hotel on the beach, all inclusive. We got an amazing deal, $980 including tax. I am really excited, this is the first time I've been outside of North America in 13 years, so the plane ride should be interesting, I have a fear of flying...

I CAN'T WAIT!! I'll be there for my Birthday, so it will be a great experience spending my Birthday elsewhere

my favourite club was La Boom. it had hip hop in one room and house in the other. dadyo's was alright but it was mainly top40. the bulldog was a bar so i didnt like it very much. senor frogs had enough hot girls.

one road trip that you should consider is renting a car/van (we had a van with 11 people in it) and we drove to sosua beach. that beach is like paradise. definitely worth checking out.

whatever you do, dont buy weed on the beach. we bought a hq for $40USD and it was crap. smoked all of it and barely got a buzz. it also tasted like dirt.

Ahh, Cancun. I hope to make this my next, or second next, vacation spot I hit up in 2008 or 2009.

I'm hooked on this whole "down south vacation all inclusive" resort business now!

Cuba was a lifechanger!

I think La Boom is closed now, go to the City. Max Graham was playing the day after I left. Do the activities at their aquatic centre, scuba dive!!!

been there twice and one time at playa del carmen (60km from cancun).

playa del carmen beaches own those at cancun.

You'll get harassed everywhere to buy some drugs or putas.

La Boom is a must see for its show.

Avoid The City, the staff are fucking hungry for tip. We were told by our hotel geo to give our waiter 5$ for the night per person as a tip. After two drinks that waiter started asking for more tip, he then asked for 20$ a person for the whole night to give us a good service.

I sent him to hell, he spilled all of our drinks.

Go to XCARET, its worth the money, it should cost you between 65 and 75$ per person, at the hotel they sell it for 120$

you don't go to cancun (resort area) to experience the culture... its very western with a shitload of starbucks, mcdonalds and burger kings.

You need to go downtown cancun with a bus to have an idea of how mexicans live.

There's a bus to Mercado 28 where you'll find alot of crap (if you're into souvenirs)... haggle with the guys big time, its safe to divide the price by 3 or 4.

I went for my 19th birthday 2 years ago and it was a big MEH. Ill give you some advice OZ, tip everyone in your hotel right when you get there or you will not recieve any service... and im not kidding. Me and my friend were so fed up with the hotel staff that we just ended up buying taquila bottles from a convinence store (wat a waste of all inclusive).

The bus that takes you to the strip is totaly fun specialy when everyone is wasted on the way back lol.

Dont expect any EDM and dont do any drugs (you will have to bribe alot of assholes if someone sees you). We went to the city to see Marco Baily... and this is how it went. from 10 - 1 am it was mainstream music and the place was jamming the at 1 am marco baily came on and every bounced even tho the music was amazing.

Dont piss on the street because you can get fined... and some assholes will keep you there till the cops arrive.

I had the best time in Fat tuesdays, its a beach bar that has commercial EDM on one side and hip hop on the otherside... you get to meet some cool people there from all over the place.

I hope you like people from the southern united states who are drinking for the first time in thier life... and have no clue where Ontario or Toronto is (not kidding). The ignorance is unbeliveble.

I go to the Mayan Riviera quite frequently. Just ask where Nectar is, and thank me later. Doesn't get good until 5-6 in the morning.

Also someone posted about not doing "stuff" there.

B.S., got some of the best stuff of my life there. Just go to Nectar, trust me!

i went to Chichen Itza ..crazy crazy pyramid... they stopped letting people climb up it because some old dood killed himself..

oh and as far as clubs.. blue parrot was great and they played mostly edm....

i was just pissed cause i requested the dj to play anything oakenfold and he never did!

I have to agree. I've been twice and can tell you first hand that there's nothing more irritating that watching kids on spring break (and by spring break I mean anytime between Jan and April) act like total goofs on the beach for a whole week....it might be amusing at first but the novelty quickly wears off....if you can catch a bus or cab to playa del carmen, I highly recommend it...the beaches there are perfect. Plus the shops and restaurants are really quaint and less commercial than the main strip... I loved La Boom but had an even better time at Coco Bongo....but that was 6 years ago so I'm not sure what it will be like now.... Also snorkeling in XCARET is pretty amazing....they have underwater caves where the coral and fish are amazing....this is coming from a girl who's kinda scared of fish so if I found it to be worthwhile...I'm guessing most ppl will enjoy it...anyways, hope you have fun whatever you decide to do.

I sell Spring Break/Grad trips, etc for a living and have been to Cancun numerous times..... Some of the above is true however there are definately a number of places worth checking out.

First of all LaBoom has been closed since the big hurricane a few years ago.....used to be a great place though.

For EDM.....In Cancun go to Dady'0....the mainroom is crap as far as music goes but there a side room (its cool...almost hidden) and it is called Ultra.....they play solid house/prog in there all night....there is also a roomtop patio on Dady'Os and as far as I know its all house aswell.....super cool place.

Nectar was mentioned above...as far as I know this place is INSANE...i've never been but a lot of people I know have and they love it...all afterhours...

If you can get to Playa Del Carmen (45 mins max) it would be 150% worth it. There are about 6 after hour/house clubs there.....all AMAZING....Blue Parrot was my personal fav....right in the sand...Omar Labastida is a resident there (great tech/tribal producer/dj) Bali plays solid house LATE....and there is another club there that is apparently amazing afterhours...cant remember the name but at around 4:30am they move the entire party to the rooftop patio and rock it out until about 10am...

You cannot go wrong with Mexico...have a wicked time......

oh yeah! Big time, went there twice, its amazing, i stayed the whole time in the water trying to find as many kind of fish and animals as possible.

My friend saw a big turtle, i saw a huge stingraw fish right under my feet, crazy rush!

I didn't go to the caves because the water was freezing.

I remember taking a handful of fish food that I threw right on my friend in the water and all the fish swarmed around him at once, he was freaking out, i almost died from laughing... he got his nipple bitten hahahaha

Thank god!! I thought I was the only one here who appreciated the Coco Bonge experience.... Dancing in that cage and on that center bar was fun times!
