IRS says, "Pay your taxes, kids!", Wesley Snipes is going to jail.
WESLEY Snipes, the Hollywood action star, faces up to three years in jail after being convicted of failing to file tax returns last night.
He was found not guilty of tax fraud and conspiracy charges.
Snipes, 45, and two co-defendants, a de-licensed accountant and a tax protest leader, were first charged in 2006.
Snipes had been accused of six counts of willful failure to file a tax return from 1999 to 2004, a period in which he signed two contracts for more than 5 million on films in the Blade trilogy.
At the court in Orcala, Florida, he was acquitted on three of those charges. For the remaining three he could be sentenced to three years in prison after originally facing a possible 16 years.
Co-defendants Eddie Ray Kahn, the founder of a tax protest group, and Douglas Rosile, a de-licensed accountant, were convicted by the same jury of tax fraud and conspiracy.
Robert Bernhoft, a lawyer for Snipes, who starred in White Men Can't Jump, claimed he was waiting for tax inspectors to answer his inquiries about his need to file returns, and always stood "ready to pay and file".
Mr Bernhoft said Snipes got no meaningful response from inspectors to his requests for interviews, conferences, appeals and audits.
