TA drama

the moderate increase in bitching and moaning lately has me curious...

have posts on TA ever ruined any friendships, stopped a potential friendship from starting, or cause god to kill kittens or anything like that?

has TOTA drama ever carried over to real life? i'm just wondering if any of you that get emotionally invested in these debates actually have confronted your internet adversaries at an event, yelled at them or gave them a knuckle sandwich or something along those lines... i imagine at the very least, it causes awkwardness for a lot of you on a regular basis...

does TA drama harm the scene in any way? does it serve a purpose? should it try to be stopped, and could it?

and yes, i know that some further drama is likely to unfold in this thread :P

ps. post links to your favourite drama threads, this one (nsfw :P) was active when i first started reading TA, it still is pretty entertaining to read

One thing that I have noticed is that even those who seem the most meanest or the ones who look like they will shoot you at sight if they where to ever see you outside somewhere are soo different from their TA personality ....... Its actually very shocking for me at first I was like wow......Since all the five fingers arent equal, there are always good, bad, friendly, arrogant, and people who have attitude everywhere.....After all we are all humans.

I once remembered Floorwhore bid farewell to everyone here on TA. Vaguely recall it was because RJ stole his milk money or something. I dunno! LOL One weekend later, he came back as Jeff Button and has been here since...

THE END

oh, I've heard stories, but TA is nothing compared to the drama on Tribe...haha

Many have retired, and all have come back....

It's quite common.

i don't let message boards influence my perception of others. However I will say that the TA drama probably leads to me posting alot less than i might have usually.

With such large and diverse group of people, there's bound to be conflict.

For sure Mark... I saw you at Mills last week and I didn't bother to say hi because of your post in the "taking a shit in a club" thread.
I think my life (and yours) have been hereby severely impacted

Drama is what keeps people entertained, just like any argument is not an argument without somebody disagreeing. You have to have confrontation otherwise the world is boring.

Diginut & me online about politics et al for yeeaaars...

when we see each other out ... PUUURRRR!!! MEOW!

OH...let me buy you a drink before you stab me!

Posted by RobotHouse on Feb-03-2008 04:08:

if you let a verbal argument determine who your friends are i doubt you have many friends to begin with

Posted by disko-kandi on Feb-03-2008 04:29:

i may not have 'many' friends. some verbal disagreements in the past have determined who my friends are....but it's not all black & white just like that.

i may have (a) few but they are gems, each individually in their own way...and I cherish each and every one of them.

it is difficult to give a proper definition of a 'friend'. ... it may sometimes surprise you who will actually be a 'friend' when you expect it the least or not at all...especially at a time of i.e. - loosing a parent. ....

sometimes we have to reassess our judgments...they may not always be right.

like i said - sometimes you will be surprised.

Posted by Yohan on Feb-03-2008 04:38:

The friend label gets thrown around too easily.

I suppose everyone defines friend in a different way, but a person who you know through an online board and who you might see once every few months isn't necessarily a friend.

Posted by The Highroller on Feb-03-2008 11:26:

I can't recall of any posts on TA that have ruined any friendships, but I know that there are certain people here that I have no interest in meeting or associating with because of the subject matter of their posts.

However, on the other hand, I'm sure that it works the other way around, and there are people who have no interest in meeting me either.

pick me! pick me!

To be honest, I don't even consider TAs my friends, outside of the few real friendships I've made here. I mean, sure, we're friends in the sense that we're peers...but not in the true sense of what it means to be a friend. I'm with Yohan, I don't just throw the word around.
