i can't wati for starcraft 2....

i need to bury myself in snow! who's with me?!

What's a star craft?

Posted by Project-K on Feb-04-2008 05:42:

I can't wait for blizzard to release it so I can stop worrying about them screwing it up. I'd been waiting for this for 9 years now and when I heard about it last may, my first thought was "uh oh, they're gonna screw this up somehow".

Posted by BTG on Feb-04-2008 05:44:

cmannn...when has blizzard screwed up any game?

Posted by Yan on Feb-04-2008 05:47:

In other news... DIABLO 3. COME ON, ALREADY, BLIZZ.

Oh and... I guess Starcraft: Ghost, too.

Warcraft 3 was crap compared to warcraft 2. And so far they seem to be going down the same road with starcraft 2 - cartoony graphics, over the top effects and animations, dumbed down interface to appeal to noobs resulting in watered down gameplay for better players, too much focus on micromanagement, and units that sound like night elves :/

i haven't read anything new on Starcraft 2 since announcement, but is it still just a Warcraft 3 mod cash-in?

Seems to me like BF2->BF2142

...I'm playing Warcraft 3 right now and this easily pisses all over that game. If it wasn't for the entertaining strategy aspect of WC3 I would've given up a long time ago. The storyline is bleh...the characters are comedic...ugh...it's just hard to take that game seriously. Starcraft 2 on the other hand is looking like its gonna be serious business.

I'd say that this, along with Half-Life 2 (which is already out), is my most anticipated game of the last decade or so.

I wouldn't mind waiting indefinitely for sc2. I already waste enough time playing the original starcraft. If I count up all the wasted hours playing starcraft and diablo 2 i probably could have learned a few dozen languages by now and traveled to a few countries, got an extra degree or two, etc...

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Feb-04-2008 10:59:

you mean starcraft 1.5?

Posted by eRRaTiK on Feb-04-2008 12:04:

yah I quite enjoyed WC3. Combining RPG type storyline with gameplay of WC2, plus 3D POV was great! It was fun playing custom maps with my friends. Three corridors FTW!

The pomp is strong in this one.

probably next blizzcon (in a few months)

That is if their "secret" unnanounced project is D3, but there's a high chance that it is. That or a completely new franchise. They just released a new WoW expansion so that won't be it, and the warcraft team is hard at work making starcraft 2, so it won't be warcraft 4. The diablo team is just sitting there twisting their thumbs.... or are they?

Indeed. There's a reason there's no significant "C&C pro gaming scene", and that while there's a warcraft 3 scene, it's only a fraction of starcraft's, and it only exists because of starcraft's reputation. It's more like "aww cute, warcraft players are trying to be like starcraft players"

Either way if starcraft had been like warcraft 3 was, we would never have had this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P39g...feature=related

WOW...

I loved WC3 single player, but I'm not very good @ multiplayer. Played some, but eventually not anymore. I still play DotA though and I'm damn good at it.

oh and I can't wait for SC2 either.

Well, that's not exactly true. Warcraft 3's best player (MYM]Moon) earns more than any brood war korean pro gamer. There was a ranking of how much money they earned in 2007 and Moon was leading with 300,000+ $!

+1 on d3 prayers

Money's not everything though. The wc3 scene is more international and that means there's some more lucrative, even US-based tournaments, but it certainly isn't as develloped as starcraft's, not by a long shot.
